South Point Hig Login to view was constructed as the new campus of Belmont Hig Login to view . The 27 acres (110,000 m2) of land was purchased in 1962. In 1963, the first plans were designed for a 2-wing facility. In September 1964, 748 students and 30 teachers returned to Belmont Hig Login to view in its new location; the cafeteria was completed in November. In 1969, Cramerton Hig Login to view consolidated with Belmont Hig Login to view to form its present name of South Point Hig Login to view . Enrollment increased to 900 students.

In 1997, Gaston County transitioned from a junior hig Login to view system to middle schools. The 9th graders increased enrollment to 1,100 students. New additions were made to the school in 1995 and 1999. Today, the school occupies 156,485 square feet (14,537.9 m2) on a 33.7-acre (136,000 m2) campus.[1]

The South Point Hig Login to view Red Raiders were winners of the 3AA NCHSAA Football Championship in 2009, 3A NCHSAA Football Championships in 2003 and 1979, the 1971 WNCHSAA 3-A Football Co-championship, and the 2011 and 1981 NCHSAA Baseball Championships. John and Phillip Goodwin won the schools first 3-A NCHAA Individual wrestling state titles and in 2006 they repeated in 2007, making them the first state champions and also first two time state champs for South Point. The last wrestling state champion from south point for wrestling was dylan cala.
