Mary Gaston Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at BJU

I lived in the Mary Gaston Residence hall at BJU for my first year as an on-campus student. The room is set up so that 5 students can live together comfortably, but the school typically boards 2-3 together. There is plenty of storage, and by that I mean plenty! With 3 people, everyone will have their own closet and overhead storage bin. There are 2 dressers, but they each have 6 drawers with lots of room. There are 2 desks with 4 drawers and 2 shelves each, so my 2 roommates and I decided to let the 2 people who needed a desk most put their stuff their, with the other person using a lap desk in their own bed. It is recommended to plan ahead with your roommates to see what items you can share. My roommates and I planned ahead to have to have one person bring the Keurig. You are only allowed to bring 1 mini-refrigerator to share in the room. There is a sink and mirror for convenience in the room. We would wash our faces and brush our teeth there. As an art student, I would also use it for water for my paint. ;) The dorm is set up with 3 floors and two halls on each floor, with one bathroom for each hall. Personally, I prefer the Mary Gaston dorm, as it has the largest bathroom. It has also been the most recently remodeled. It has a cozy basement area where people are able to do schoolwork, hang out, reserve space for things like parties, etc. There is also a large laundry room with washer was and dryers for everyoneβs use, free of charge.

it is a wonderfully staffed dorm, with great amenities. I do wish we had more appliances similar to a kitchen in the food room. That way we could actually cook downstairs using an oven or even a stovetop. Even a toaster would be nice

Overall, Gaston is a really nice dorm. I am a little concerned about how well the showers are clean, especially the curtains. As with the other building on campus, they keep up with the maintenance pretty well, an if you ever need something fixed, there is a simple process to tell the right people, and they fix it fairly quickly. The staff is great! They are really genuine ladies that care for you and check on you to see how you're doing. Bonus points for being the girls' dorm with the music practice room ;)

The staff is welcoming and helpful! When you walk into the dorm it had a clean smell. The study lounge was always clean and silent. I never had any of my items stolen in the laundry room or dorm room. The staff kept the halls quiet at night and made sure everyone was inside and safe. Overall I highly recommend this dorm.

Bob Jones University has recently as of this year turned Mary Gaston Residence hall into its Freshman dorm building. As an incoming freshman, I was not excited about this at all. Little did I know, this dorm is probably one of my favorite things about college. It makes me feel at home. Although the dorm is hall style, the bathroom's shower stalls do have a double curtain style which is so necessary. The lobby is beautiful and inviting. Very clean and so fun.

Living in Mary Gaston has been absolutely wonderful. The rooms are just the right size for three girls. It has a sink, two dressers, two desks, three wardrobes, and two bunk beds (one double, one triple). Plus there is a bunch of overhead storage.
