Parkside Dorm Reviews at CSU Long Beach

Great place to live! I made life-long friends there. It was very convenient that I did not have to drive to campus and find parking; I could just walk to school. The dining hall and laundry room where conveniently located as well; everything was clean.

It was a great experience. I made friends and I learned how to live on my own and handle my responsibilities. The staff were extremely helpful to me by being there when I needed them. The food was also great as it provided nutritious options.

I had a great time at the Parkside dorms. One of the great things is to get into your building, suite, and room, you'd have to swipe your ID card. I liked this because it made me feel more safe especially being a woman.

I lived in Parkside as a freshman during the 2019-20 school year. There weren't very many areas to study outside of your room. The common room has a TV so if you study in there people will come in and hang out so it's easy to make friends but hard to get stuff done. The dorms are a mile a away from the rec center which makes it hard to motivate yourself to get active. It's close to the Pyramid and Japanese gardens which is cool if you like to take pictures or go to volleyball games. It is about a 25 minute walk to the library which is far compared to other schools. The campus is pretty spread out so I recommend getting a scooter or skateboard. I didn't know how to skateboard when I got to campus but some of my friends in Parkside taught me and now it's one of my favorite things to do.

My experience at parkside was pretty decent for dorming for the first time. The food cafeteria is the best part of parkside. The rooms themselves were okay. They are older dorms so there was a musty smell and it was slightly dirty and dusty when I arrived. What is nice is that the rooms are doubles, so students aren’t packed like sardines into a single room. Sometimes the water heater didnt work and everyone had to take cold showers that morning. I heard that the dorms at Hillside are better but the food at Parkside is the best.

It was always fun being at Parkside and the food was really good too! Nice dorms that was almost apartment style. The great thing about living in these dorms is that they were not too far away from campus. A shuttle bus would arrive every 15 minutes to take students from and to campus as needed.
