Lantana Hall Dorm Reviews at Texas State

Honestly not the best really old dorm dirty stairwells and restrooms and common areas. However good distance from all my classes. As well as near the square and near the target. Id rate it overall a 6/10

The Experience in Lantana hall are a good but not that big of a deal. We have Good people who are staying hear at all times with good curers to go with them and get to learn more about them. The times we get together and have parties all together as a way to get together and form a community. We respect each other a lot and have fun.

I've recently moved in and have yet to be here for a long time, but in the time that I have been here, it has been a very good experience. It is one of the smaller dorms (only three floors) and it is an all-girls dorm. The rooms are on the smaller side compared to some of the other living options on campus, and since it's an older building, it isn't as modern, but it is cozy. The people here, both staff and students, are kind and approachable. They tend to mind their own business but will be there to help if you have questions or concerns. I personally really like this hall since it is quieter, and the location is near lots of buildings for classes. It's at the bottom of a hill so there are hills you have to walk every day to get to places, but it is not unbearable, as long as you have the right type of shoe you should be okay.

Lantana hall was the best experience of a college dorm for my first year at Texas State. It was never loud, people respected each other's space and noise levels, especially during finals week. The staff was very kind, the dorm was always clean, and it was in close proximity to the dining hall.

It's very small, but it feels nice to be in an all-girl dorm and it's usually very quiet, besides the construction constantly going on outside. And the people skrrting on the hill outside. It's mostly loud outside. Inside is okay.

It has been an interesting experience amidst COVID, but a surprisingly good experience overall. Lantana is clean, and residents are friendly. We are a lower income dorm, so it does need certain commodities (i.e. an elevator) but nothing too necessary.

I honestly did not enjoy my dorm experience like my fellow peers in other halls. It honestly felt like a jail cell, and it smelled awful and I would always get sick when other residents got sick. We all had to share a bathroom, and a kitchen, and it felt like you never truly had any privacy or any quiet time due to everything being shared.

During my freshman year at Texas State University, I stayed at Lantana Hall on the 2nd floor. One of the things that I did not know was that the 2nd floor basically functioned at the main floor/ 1st floor. What they label as the 1st floor is actually below the main entrances, making the 2nd floor the main floor. This is important to know if you do not plan to live on the main floor/ a traditional 1st floor. Despite living on this floor, I still felt relatively safe. Ironically, it's the nicer and more expensive areas that experience more crime like theft. Lantana is located with the other two cheaper dorms (Butler and the affectionately nicknamed "Scary Sterry"). These three dorms reside at the bottom of the campus hill, you have to walk up hill to get to most (if not all) places on campus. The bright side to this is that the campus loop bus stop is right outside Lantana. Its pretty clean, although I did have an ant outbreak in my room despite not having any food in my dorm. This lasted until it got cold and the ants died off.
