Buckman Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Florida

It is a nice place; the building is beautiful and it is located near places commonly visited by students. It is usually pretty quiet and definitely a safer dorm on campus. The staff is lovely as well.

Buckman is quiet and most everyone here is friendly. The facilities are kept clean and tidy, and the location is very convenient. Its vicinity toward the Plaza of the Americas is quite convenient, and the Hub and Reitz Union are a reasonable walk away.

Buckman Hall is a small dorm hall with few people. The bathrooms each have two toilet stalls and two showers and with only seven other people on your floor you may rarely encounter another person in the bathroom. The worst part is that it can get noisy at night, being near a big road and a bar. The rooms are quite spacious and the furniture has some good features (a cabinet that can be locked and plenty of desk space). It is also located directly between either food hall, each being about .4 miles away.

This is absolutely the dorm for a freshman looking to have a social first year at UF. The Murphree common area is by far the superior common area on campus and you will be in the closest dorm to midtown.

Summer of 2018 I was a freshman at the University of Florida and stayed in Buckman Hall building D. I was in a single and it was all very dusty and dull. There were some issues with bathrooms and I even found a condom on the floor. The kitchen was dirty and i would only see maintenance once a week. I did not enjoy the single room and it was very small as well. I would honestly compare it to a jail cell.

At Buckman Hall, I had a sink in my room and, therefore, could easily brush my teeth and stop dreaming of a system of water bottles that could be used to brush my teeth within my room instead of traveling to the bathroom. I could faintly hear the music from midtown on busy nights from the first floor, but I actually enjoyed this while studying and working late at night. There were only a handful of rooms in this building, so the bathroom on the first floor was shared with only 5 other people. The building was also close to classes and a parking lot, which I found very convenient. I loved living at Buckman and definitely recommend it to students that are looking for a more quiet, calm dormitory experience.
