Murphree Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Florida

Convenient location, Publix, Target, Wawa, Starbucks, Chipotle are just a short walk away. I love that it's close to all of my classes. The common area is ok but I wished that there were activities in the actual dorm building itself. Overall bathrooms are clean with no issues so far. There is some extra noise on weekends. Murphree is located near the stadium which makes it convenient on game days.

I was in Murphree E on the second floor. Honestly, for a first dorm experience, I was amazed at how wonderful this dorm was. Going into my undergrad, I had heard horror stories about how disgusting the dorms would most likely be so I was prepared for the worst. However, I was pleasantly surprised to have been placed in this dorm. You have plenty of room for storage, location on campus is great being right next to Midtown and still close to Turlington for all of my classes, and even the bathrooms were never crowded except for maybe once or twice. My only notes I will make about this dorm are these: 1. Being next to Midtown, it is louder since their are fraternities and bars right across the street. 2. It is a Co-ed dorm alternating by floors (men on 1st and 3rd floor, women on 2nd and 4th floor) with no doors to block each floor off. 3. No elevators, so it isn't wheelchair accessible. Compared to the other dorms on campus, this is probably one of the top dorms you could stay in simply because of location.

My experience at Murphree Hall has been wonderful. The location is great! I am within walking distance of Target, Publix, and great places to eat! I am also within walking distance of my class that I have in person, It only takes me about 10 minutes to walk there. I also really love how the dorm is set up so that you can have your own personal living space but still have a roommate as well. The room I am living in is a Two-Room Double, which means I have my own room and my roommate has her own room, and they are connected by a door. So, we have private space while also not living all alone. We also have a sink in the room as well so we don't have to brush our teeth or wash our face for example in the shared bathrooms. The kitchen is on the second floor, and although it looks a bit dated, it still works perfectly. The staff do a good job of cleaning the restrooms and common spaces for us as well. One concern of mine is that it still is annoying to have to share a restroom, but in Murphree, you only share it with a max of about 8 other girls on your floor, instead of many more like in the normal traditional halls. The downside is that there is only one small shower, and it gets dirty easily. Other than that, Murphree is definitely a good dorm to choose to live in your first year here!

I had a fine experience at Murphree Hall. My only complaint would be that the buildings should probably renovated inside soon. It feels as though no one has update the inside of the building since it was built.
