My overall experience at Arizona-Sonora at University of Arizona was a positive one. There are technically two buildings (I lived in Sonora) joined by the lobby and front desk area. The rooms are the biggest on campus (which makes up for the small communal bathrooms) with each person getting a huge amount of closet and wall space. The beds are quite small and high off the ground (definitely bring something to climb on to reach) but it was nice having the extra storage space underneath the bed. Meeting up with friends to talk or do homework in the study rooms (one on each floor) was always a great part of my day and the downstairs table tennis made it even better! The whole building is convenient with several elevators, entrances, and plenty of laundry machines in the basement (along with several vending machines which served as my breakfast, lunch, and dinner most days). My room on the ninth floor overlooked the volleyball area and the mini-mart (with several tasty restaurants nearby which all tended to stay open until midnight) just a few yards away. During weekends, the dorm tended to get a little noisy, which was the main downside of living at Arizona-Sonora. There were frequent parties and around 2 am quite a few people would gather in the hallway for races and singing. The noise would never last very long and being on the top floor with a room furthest from the elevator definitely helped. A smaller downside of the dorm was the lack of heat in the showers (which is probably typical for college showers in general) and the tendency for it to get freezing cold in the winter. While unpleasant, it was still bearable and did not take away from my overall enjoyment of Arizona-Sonora. I would recommend this dorm to someone who is outgoing due to the lively atmosphere of the dorm or to an incredibly easygoing person who doesn't mind the tradeoff between noisy neighbors and having an obscene amount of wall and closet space and being close to several great amenities on campus.

Arizona-Sonora has a welcoming experience when first starting off. Immediately people in the area show you around and are very friendly! The security at the dorms do a goo job at making sure everyone is safe.
