Collins Hall Dorm Reviews at Baylor

Living in Collins is so much fun. It has been newly renovated so it is very nice and the rooms and bathrooms are clean. The staff here is so nice and they are willing to help you with everything. There are also a lot of spaces where you can get your homework done if you do not want to stay in your room or go to the library.

I love living in Collins for the social aspect. All of my really close friends live right next door to me and it is super fun to be able to just walk across the hall to their door and hang out whenever I get bored.

old dorm that obviously has a lot of character but it could use some renovations to keep up with cleanliness. other than that it brought a great community feeling with the community bathrooms. you were constantly out of your room and running into people it was nice

My freshman experience at Collins is probably one I wouldn't ever trade, and I can't wait to return for the spring semester! I lived on the third floor, central part(which is just the main hallway)! Ruth Collins Hall is a very, very old building and is most defintely in need of a crap ton of renovations, especially the community bathrooms. Showers are old-fashioned and despite being clean, never seem like it, which is probably due to the fact there's only two bathrooms for each floor that has a little over a hundred girls. I highly recommend decorations to make your room feel homey; the furniture is bulky and I believe all floors are tile, so take my advice and get a cute carpet! Also, select your room placement wisely, because at Collins you can hear everything (like everything). Most importantly, if you don't know how to do laundry please please learn, because the machines are older and I will say this twice; warm water is terrible for washing and you must remove the lint from the dryers. Despite, all the challenges presented by this dated building, the community is what makes Collins great! Say hi to everyone you meet in the hall, and be nice to your neighbors! All the CLs are amazing and will help with literally anything! If you chose to live here at Collins, do it for the community! Make friends, learn how to do laundry, don't ever forget shower shoes, and most importantly remember to make the most of it! :)

Collins was far below average when it comes to freshman dorms. The quality and beauty of Baylor was able to make up for the troublesome living environment. I actually contracted a virus on my face called impetigo. When my doctor diagnosed me he immediately asked where I lived and then proceeded to explain that this virus is usually only found in adults who are living in very low sanitary environments.

Collins was a great place to be as a female on campus. But, living on the 6th floor meant we were the dirtiest floor. The shower curtains were usually pulled down. Regardless, I think these things are typical of any college dorm.

The evelators were always broken and I lived on one of the upper floors so at least I got my exercise in. Notoriously Collins doesn't have the best reputation on cleanliness, etc., but considering that it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It wasn't the worst experience but if I could have afforded one of the nicer dorms (with the added space) I think I would have enjoyed that more.
