Penland Hall Dorm Reviews at Baylor

Incredibly nice dorm, nothing but god thing to say about it, whether the clean rooms or the kind staff. My room mate and I have enjoyed our time here and love the location and also that there is a dining hall adjacent to Penland also.

Very loud, but also very fun. Our hot water was gone 90% of the time and there were leaks all over the top floor dorms, where we usually had a maintenance man come in to look at the pipes a couple of days a week, but never actually fix it. Also, no hot water. Like why???

I was in a triple so I shared a room with two girls. It was cramped, not much room for extra furniture (the room came with three bed, desks under the beds, a sink and two closet spaces). The layout was small but practical. And the layout of the dorm had a boys side and a girls side which was nice for cleanliness

Penland has one of the best locations on campus; it's across from the SUB, fountain mall, and the Bookstore. I loved the sense community and there was always something fun happening! For me, the only real downside was the community bathrooms, but the room was a great size (2 lofted beds, 2 desks, an open closet, and a sink). Living in Penland was an amazing freshman year experience and I highly recommend it if you're trying to decide between dorms!

Penland hall is probably one of the better regular dorm style buildings that Baylor has. Everyone who lives there is very chill so no one complains to the CL about noise (which is why it can be a little noisy at times).

Conveniently located to most things on campus, the dining hall is in the building, bookstore across the street, live mascots - real bears are across the way, fun people throughout the building, and love our room! So happy to be in Penland!

Penland Hall is your typical college dorm. It's loud sometimes at 2am because of giggling girls out in the hallway. The furniture is still pretty new because it was replace in 2016ish. Penland Hall is pretty clean and new in general because they refurbished it recently.

Penland is a great dorm to live in! It was very easy to meet new friends and have a great freshman experience. The bathrooms were pretty clean, most of the time. I would highly recommend choosing your roommates wisely!

Penland hall is a nice college residence located fairly close to the center of campus. I have thoroughly enjoyed living there. It's close proximity to the dining hall is a wonderful amenity. With the hall being recently renovated, it feels cleaner compared to other dorm options.

It has been great so far. They have done a good job with cleanliness, but occasionally there will be a couple of bathrooms needing attention, along with paper towels everywhere and a lot of hair in the showers. Also occasionally really odd scents flowing through the vents.

It's been pretty good. Mainly because of the residents the bathroom cleanliness can get out hand in the matter of a day. The noise situation and everything else is fantastic because of the well enforced curfews and rules in the dorm. My favorite thing about the dorm is the incredible dining hall that I can reach in the matter of a minute within the same building.

Penland Hall was one of my favorite parts about living on campus my freshman year. It is in a great location close to the middle of campus, so none of your classes were too far away to walk. Since it is co-ed, you can make friends with both girls and guys to get a more well rounded college experience. Also, it was remodeled recently, so the bathrooms and the building itself was clean and tidy. The rooms would sometimes get really cold at night, but as long as you have blankets it's all good. The great thing about Penland Hall is that there are quiet study rooms on every floor to allow you to get your work done in an environment without distraction. I personally loved Penland because all of the staff were so encouraging and wanted to see me succeed.

I loved Penland but it did have some positives and negatives. It was a great way to meet new people and it is close to everything. There is a dining hall next door that always serves something good, all classes and the gym are within a 15 minute walk or less, and is across the street from the library and Bear habitat. Overall, it is very clean, staff cleans the bathroom and takes out trash daily, and it always smelled nice (at least in my hall). The room is amazing, there was plenty of room for my stuff and even with a roommate I felt like I had my own space. The closets were big and the windows are huge, perfect for seeing the sunsets and clouds on rainy days. The only few downsides was that on the weekends it got loud at late hours, I had to ask my neighbors multiple times to turn down their music or TV around 2 am. However, these were very few occasions and compared to the rest of the semester and good experiences I would not have wanted to live anywhere else for my first semester in college.

Penland Hall is sort of a “catch all”. You have a wide variety of not only grade classification, but of majors/interests/etc! You can always find people who live around you that want to simply meet new people. Everyone, including the staff, is super nice, too. Penland is also just across the street from another residence hall, so you have so many opportunities to meet other people on campus. I’ve never had trouble finding someone with similar interests as me.

Penland was not my first choice but it a great hall to be living in. They would have many different gatherings in order to make sure that we were able to make friends with people on other floors and parts of the hall. The bathrooms were much better than some others in different halls even though they were community bathrooms.

It has been...interesting. I will say that it really is centrally located on campus, next to a few dining halls and the parking garage, which are all very nice. However, there is usually vomit or other fluids on the floor on the weekends and it is just kind of gross. Stay at your own risk.

My wing is secluded from the rest of the dorm room, so it is extremely quiet. I've made a lot of great friends. Staff is always extremely helpful and personable. The dorm is not cleaned as often as I would like, however.

It has been very nice, people are super friendly and you will find many people knocking on your dorm door multiple times a day. It does get a bit crazy at night with everyone running around being crazy, but overall it's a good time.

Penland is a great hall to live in your first year. The location is central to most things on campus, except the BSB and Business Building. There is always someone playing pool in the lobby or watching TV. There is a great community where you can find several likeminded people and almost never be bored. It honestly is such a friendly place and is also connected to the largest dining hall on campus.
