Randolph is part of the East Campus first-year dorm, in the "backyard." Compared to other dorms on the quad, Randolph is closer to 9th St, which has lots of food options and a Whole Foods. The community in Randolph depends on the students who happen to be there. When I was a student, Randolph housed all the students who were part of the Neuroscience and Law Focus group, which made studying which classmates easier if you were part of that Focus group.
