HOWARD PLAZA TOWERS, WEST Dorm Reviews at Howard

It's not a bad experience. The lounges and rooms are nice. The bathrooms are a nice size. Our washers and dryers constantly break. It seems they don't make it a priority to get them fixed in a quick manner.

There were plenty of different room types in Towers, but each on gives you enough space to make it your own. I was lucky enough to have my own room with a suite mate. The staff are friendly and are always welcome for a chat. I really enjoyed my stay here.

My time at Howard Plaza Towers West was cut short due to a kitchen fire about two floors above me, but while I was there it was excellent. Food options, metro stops and campus were easily accessible. It was a really welcoming environment by both the staff members, residence assistants, and students alike. My only issue is that sometimes the streets could be loud, but that is just because of the placement of the dorm being between two major roads in Washington.

I honestly hated my experience. The only way I would go back is if I did not have the money to move off campus. The wiring in the building is faulty so the fire alarms would constantly go off. Once, we did not have power or hot water for days. There was also a housing protest because of mold, flooding, and rats in our dorm. I would only recommend HPW if you would not be coming out of pocket for anything.

So living in West Towers was definitely an experience. Cleanliness really depends on who you have living on your floor and in your suite. Staff and maintenance are really good at trying to get problems solved quickly, but sometimes it may take more than a day being that there are so many people living in the building. It's located just across from campus so you can easily ride a scooter or walk up the hill to the Yard for class.

Howard Towers west is probably the best dorm at howard university. Each unit/suite comes with a bathroom and kitchen. Each floor also comes with laundry room, which has two washers/dryers each. HPT West also comes with a gym, a table tennis table, a mini store and a mail room. The staff are super nice and helpful. 24-hour visitation is available to all residents.
