Helser Dorm Reviews at ISU

For the past couple years I've lived in Helser, I must say that it is the best dorm for meeting new people and forming a close-knit community that you'll have for way beyond college years. Located in the heart of campus, Helser is perfect for being nearby classes. Not to mention, the lack of AC in the building allows people to open up their doors more often, which in turn makes it much easier to start getting to know your house mates!

All in all, Helser was a great place for me to live my dorm experience as a Freshman. You could tell this dorm was a little older but everyone there was nice and the location on campus is convenient! This dorm was close to a two different dining centers keeping a variety of foods and it was near the middle of campus making walking to class easy!

Helser offered a unique experience for freshman attending Iowa State. Not only was I away from home for the first time surrounded by strangers, but I also had no air conditioning. With air conditioning in only certain areas of the building, it forced us to interact with each other, and for the better we all bonded. If not for the lack of A/C, I don't think I would have clicked with my friends as well as I did.

It is a typical dorm. I am there for the aerospace learning community. The bathrooms are bad and the showers aren't great. It is what I expected though when you think of a normal college dorm. I have been to a lot better rooms nearby for pretty much the same price.
