Prentice Hall Dorm Reviews at Kent State

My experience was what one would expect from their first stay in a college dorm room. Bathrooms were always a mess, things were broken left and right and neighbors were not courteous at times. My biggest problem however was my random roommate assignment. He has no sense of manners, cleanliness or courtesy for most of our first year at Kent. With that said, it really is down to one's own preference but overall I'd rate my dorm experience a 5/10.

Prentice was a decent option if you want to be near the central campus. However, my roommate and I definitely had a few problems with it. Our room was closest to the stairwell so there was a lot of noise from people coming in and out of the stairs, but that wasn't our main issue. What was most disappointing was how several things kept breaking down throughout the year. All of the driers stopped working on our floor for nearly two weeks at one point before they were fixed, and even then they had to eventually replace them after even more malfunctions. Not to mention that on several occasions, the toilets in the bathrooms also malfunctioned during the second semester, with some flushing non-stop for hours. One of the stalls was even out of order for all of the spring semester for no stated reason. The RA's this year also didn't do their job very well when it came to making sure everyone followed quiet hours and other rules when it came to cleanliness. Despite that, the location was great. It was almost right in the center of campus, so all my classes and the dining hall were nearby. And having our room near the stairs was beneficial if we were in a hurry. Also, the janitorial staff was great and very kind. I honestly wish they were respected better by the residents when it came to the bathrooms. Overall, I'd rate Prentice a 4/10. Would've rather stayed in Eastway to be honest.

I really loved my time at the Prentice Hall and wish to be back for the Fall semester! My only real issue with the hall was that the bathrooms were shared, so I'd have to leave my dorm room to use it. That would mean I'd have to leave my room to brush my teeth, which is always a weird thing to me. Since the university suggested the students stay in quarantine for the Spring semester, I didn't really leave my room much at all. My neighbor was silent, so I tried being respectful and keeping myself silent. I didn't receive any complaints, and I never gave any. Food was great, RA was great, and the internet was phenomenal! I really miss my dorm room.

It is close to the back side of campus and its nice that there is a dining hall in the building. What I did not like a bout the building was that it was old and the bathroom was a shared bathroom. It was also outdated.
