I stayed in Van Winkle my freshman year. It was horrible! It looks like a prison, it’s very echoey, so you can hear everything. The bathrooms are communal, and most of the time it was very gross. The only time it was clean was when the cleaners came every morning, and I appreciate them for dealing with other people’s mess. Another thing with the bathrooms, the shower curtains they provide you don’t cover you. If you try to pull the curtain to one side, there would be a gap on the other side. It was very uncomfortable taking showers there (at least for me). Overall, just a horrible place to stay, but if you’re a female and you’re a first year coming into Lasell, you’re more likely to get into Van Winkle.
