Huger Hall Dorm Reviews at UL Lafayette

This will be my second year living in Huger Hall. I will say the janitors do keep the place clean, the people aren't usually too loud, and I live across from the union, most of my classes are close by. But, I will say that maintenance, takes a long time to answer when you need something fixed, there isn't much closet room because the closets are wardrobes outside of the wall, which makes the room feel smaller, and you have to switch the light twice in most the bathrooms to get them to go off. Living could definitely be approved, but there are no inconveniences to complain about, it's a comfortable living space.

Overall my experience was fairly decent barring some delayed construction repairs on the elevators and filtered water fountains. Additionally, the location of the hall is convenient 5-minute walk from the student union and nearest on-call shuttle station.

My experience so far has not been too terrible. It is my second year living on campus and this dorm is now for upperclassman. My only issue has been the location as the street by the front door of my dorm building faces a sketchy street where a shooting took place a few months ago.

I love living in Huger. You just have to get used to your sink not draining properly- this usually means that any dishes you have are done in the bathtub instead of the sink, and you brush your teeth as you take a shower too. The common areas were closed off this semester because of COVID, so I cannot actually rate that area. Other than that, I really enjoy living in Huger.

I lived there as a first year student and it was perfect to be close to classroom buildings and getting to know a lot of people. I could walk to class in about 10min wherever I had class. It was really convenient and I would recommend living there to every freshmen. There are a lot of very similar dorms around Huger so this experience is likely not limited to Huger Hall but applies to all dorms South of campus.

I have felt fairly secure while here. Things are (moderately) quiet, and the building has implemented a good protocol in the times of COVID. There are multiple scanners required to get to your room, which can be a hassle at times, but it's a necessity.
