Hecht Residential College: Pentland Tower Dorm Reviews at University of Miami

Those were the days! Pentland is no more but its a must-have freshman experience. The conditions are questionable but it builds character and remember you all suffer through it together. New heads won't get that experience unfortunately.

As freshman dorms go, it's to be expected that everything won't be the best. The communal bathrooms are relatively clean considering there's 30 girls sharing only 5 showers and bathroom stalls, but the rooms themselves are relatively dirty and a lot of decorating needs to be done to cover some of the worst parts. The hurricane shutters are definitely a nice addition though. Compared to the other freshman dorms on campus, Hecht is the way to go for sure.

The staff is not the friendliest people and they are always judgmental when you go to them for help. The bathrooms are always dirty, and the sinks are sometimes filled with trash or old food that people throw out. The elevators are also sometimes a mess but the lobby is always spotlessly clean. Our common areas are always clean and many people use them as it is a quiet environment to work in most of the time.

It's not a bad freshman dorm, you'll be able to build a community with other residents compared to other on-campus dorms. I'd recommend it for freshmen. Although, sometimes I wish I had a personal bathroom, communal bathrooms arent terrible.
