Williams Hall

Avery beautiful common areas and very nice location but the windows let in bugs when it’s warm and the bathrooms are advertised as cleaned daily but they’re cleaned maybe once a week. This is troubling because people are disgusting. There’s always something gross in the bathroom and it always reeks of ammonia and weed. more

I have been enjoying my time here in west akers hall. My dorm room had new hardwood floor when I arrived and it truly adds a very cozy touch. I am also in a quad style dorm and I love it! It is so nice to have a separate living area. more

Bailey Hall

Bailey Hall has been great so far. Very clean and student are very friendly. Great location near Brody dining hall as well. Minutes away from Breslin Center and Spartan Stadium. Campus is beautiful. I feel very safe! more

Shaw Hall

No dinning hall open on the weekends puts a damper on it! It is a central location on campus which is nice. However, sometimes things can be inaccessible do to the assumption by the university Shaw residents will go elsewhere. more

Hubbard Hall

Hubbard was actually quite nice in my experience, i do know a lot of people that disagree but we lived on the first floor and didn’t have many issues at all. There were some people who would leave trash out and stuff but there’s not much you can do about that. more

Mason Hall

I would say Mason Hall is a really good place to live your freshman year of college. It's right by a main road with lots of shops and restaurants, which makes it really convenient whenever you need something from a store or want to go out to eat. The neighborhood is full of beautiful scenery, and great places to walk and sit down with friends to relax. The dorm building itself is a little older compared to the other halls on campus, however all maintenance is up to date and everything is kept clean. The dorm rooms are a good medium size, however all dorms in this building only have communal bathrooms. Overall the location is great and the building itself is perfectly fine. more

South Wonders Hall

The staff are really nice, and maintenance is fast and efficient. I have seen mouse traps, and your shoes stick to the floor at night. The dorms are also pretty crappy on the material in them. All the furniture in the dorm was either stained, cracked, carved into, broken, or just REALLY old. The RAs are really nice so far, and so are most of the people here. It doesn't get too loud but beware the sixth floor if you sleep early. They can get a little crazy with the noise and parties, especially on weekends. Also, the train is very loud at all hours of the day/night. Still better than some halls though. more

Abbott Hall

Michigan State University advertises beautiful dorms. I was unfortunately assigned to Abbott Hall last semester. I was disappointed when I saw my dorm in person. There was no heat or air in my room. The community bathrooms were not cleaned. The showers did not work some of the time. When they did work, the water would overflow onto the floor. The halls contained a foul smell. The dorm room itself was very small to be shared between two people. The room is 10 ft. by 10 ft. more

Gilchrist Hall

I love the location of Gilchrist, we are within walking distance of the city, and I am very close to all my classes. The only complaint I have is no air conditioning and we are on the top floor so we get the heat the worst. This makes sleeping at night really hard and most mornings I wake up sweating more

Phillips Hall is alright I'd say. My biggest gripe is the cleanliness of the dorm in the halls as students seem to break the hallway doors, fountains and such. The showers and bathrooms have their dirtiness. more

Snyder Hall

I like Snyder hall, overall I haven't had a bad experience there. I think it's a great place for more relaxed quiet people, I don't think it's the place for people who like to be loud and rowdy. It's super close to downtown which is so convenient if you need to go shopping or just want to go out for dinner. It does give a more tradition college type of feel, older buildings with character and a beautiful outside landscape. more
