Cowden Hall Dorm Reviews at NAU

I stayed at McConnell my freshman year and I can definitely say that Cowden is much better. It's quieter, cleaner, and the people here are more considerate. The bathrooms and public areas are always clean.

Overall, Cowden Hall is very convenient. It is right next to the dining hall, and in terms of the whole campus, it is in the middle of everything. This makes it very easy to access things such as the library, classes, and even other dorms. It is pretty clean compared to other dorms, and when something does become dirty, the staff are usually pretty fast to clean it up.

Super quiet, it's in the central of campus. Close to the union as well as the library. I can easily walk to my classes. Also, there's a lot of fun events that takes place in the residence hall. You can meet new people and become friends with a lot of them.

It's my first dorm experience, but I love my roommate so much, she's literally the best. It's calm and quiet for the most part, just the occasional part on the weekends, but it's fun otherwise. I like the community and I'm making friends as it goes on.

Aside from the near constant fire alarm problems, Cowden is a fantastic dorm to live in. It is close to everything on North Campus, with a variety of bus stops nearby for access to South Campus. Additionally, the rooms in Cowden are much larger than the average dorm, even if you don't have your own sink.

Cowden Hall is one of the only freshman dorms without a sink. I would recommend picking a dorm with a sink, that way you're not constantly having to run to the restroom. I also wouldn't recommend living above the RA (I lived in room 288 for reference). My first semester, my neighbor and I got a lot of noise complaints even when we were trying our best to be quiet. She moved out though so you don't have to worry about that.

Cowden Hall was very quiet which was always nice for studying. It's right in the middle of everything so easy access to the majority of the campus; eating hall, library, advisory building, bookstore, etc. It's also right next to a bus stop. However, it was co ed, and there was only one bathroom for each gender on each floor (there's three floors). There are no elevators which isn't really a problem except for when you're moving in or out. Also, there are no sinks in any of the rooms, so you always have to go to the bathroom to just brush your teeth or wash your face. Many of the other dorms on campus did have sinks in the rooms so this was the worst part.

Perfect central location that is right near the library, union, a quick walk to most of the buildings with classes on north campus. Also very close to lots of convenient bus stops. Not as huge as Reilly or Sechrist, so not as prone to parties and out of control situations. Pretty spacious for the kind of res hall it is, you always have enough space even with sharing with a roommate.

No elevator, so be ready to climb those stairs if you don't get placed on the third floor! Everyone at Cowden was courteous and quiet. Great dorm for school-focused honors students. Right next to the union and theater building, and walking distance from Target off campus. I loved living here!

Cowden hall has been a good hall for my roommate and I. The main problem I have with Cowden is that there is no sink and no elevator. living on the third floor it is sometimes a hassle to get up to the room if I'm caring a lot of stuff. Overall, Cowden is a good freshman hall but I'm looking forward to living somewhere else next year.

It's a typical hall, though I wish they were a bit more accommodating and descriptive of what the rooms look like. My roommate in I were placed in a dorm that was missing some of the essentials listed on the website, such as medicine cabinets, a significant amount of outlets, and cabinets/storage. Despite these setbacks, I still enjoyed saying here for my freshman year.

There were many friendly people there and the neighbors were extremely understanding. The dorms always seemed very clean. The RA was also easy to talk to. The rooms are bigger than other dorms and more accommodating.

My experience at Cowden has been a relatively uneventful one. The halls are quiet during quiet hours, the RA’s do regular walk around to ensure so. Although the rooms are not even remotely soundproof meaning even the smalls noise can be heard and unfortunately that can get you in trouble.

I have met some of my best and closest friends in Cowden Hall and I love how helpful the R.A's are and how consistent they are with their follow ups. I also am grateful to have had the opportunity to be on campus in the dorm thanks to their COVID-19 rules and regulations.

There are times when couples are arguing and they keep you up. The vents work, meaning you know when someone is burning their popcorn. The showers are good. You're near the Union and library so that's a plus.

Cowden Hall is almost always quiet, especially during the day. The people who work at the front desk down stairs are always nice and easy to talk to when you need to figure out where to go or what you're supposed to do before you move in! It does get hot so when they say bring a fan, you should bring a fan.
