Ellender hall Dorm Reviews at Nicholls

It's one of the cheaper dorms to stay at so I really had no other choice than to stay there, but honestly it's pretty decent. The common rooms and communal kitchen could be way better, but I'm looking more at the individual rooms since I spend most of the time there. The rooms themselves hold four people and they're not that bad, maybe a little cramped but I prefer to think of them as cozy. And the staff here are so sweet and they helped my friend and I out a lot with maintenance and stuff.

Ellender hall is the cheapest residential option they have. It has 6 floors and 4 people assigned to a room. Its not that spacious and the bathroom is there once you open the door. My experience wasn’t bad and I guess i’m saying that because I was lucky enough to have the room all to myself. Since we had to experience the year with covid around, we were not allowed to have visitors or guests in the building or rooms. However if you had roommates you made 3 new friends, unless you requested people you already know. To get the certain roommate or roommates you want you have to request them on the housing portal and they have to request you, to higher your chances. Since there are 4 people to a room and 2 on each side, if you want to be on a certain side with your friend you have to email housing and the roommate you would like to switch with to be on the same side. Straight across the front of the building is the parking lot and chic-fil-a. In the back of the building is another parking lot with lights, and we share that parking lot with some residents that stay in Scholars hall, or students who just come to park for their education because they live off-campus. Ellender is also not too far from the cafeteria, and on the left side (right across the street) is the Ellender Memorial Library. The air conditioner is controlled by an outside source and is different on each floor, so my room was really cold. I spoke up about it one day to my RA and I guess she emailed someone because one day it was not as cold, just a slight breeze. Overall not a bad experience, I would recommend this hall to a friend because it is just the start of your experience and for you to get the swing of things.

My experience at Ellender hall was different than I expected. Noise levels, smell, as well as cleanliness of areas made my experience a little rough. I had difficulty sleeping as temperatures would change and noise was at a high. Overall, I felt it was a good learning experience for me to find out that living on my own at an apartment would better suit me and making memories with my friends were also very good.

At Ellender hall it is a nice vibe the workers are really nice and staff is really good at their jobs but the problems the building has such as the laundry room which some washers and driers don’t work as well as the vending machine takes money from students but overall the vibe in Ellender is pretty chill sometimes.

Its a great dorm just not the one most people would think about getting later in the years of college. I didn't have a roommate but I did have a dormmate, we got along but never talked much. Neither of us talk to the neighboring dorms but we hear the "parties" going on every now and then.
