Midrise Residential Honors College Dorm Reviews at Norfolk State

My experience in Midrise Residential Honors College dorm was not the greatest mainly because of the quality of this dorm was horrendous. My suite had many issues with the air conditioning unit, the bathrooms paint was stripping, and I had a wasp nest at my window which was directly next to my bed. I contacted maintenance and my residential director multiple times in order to get this issues fixed and was told the matter would be handle but it wasn’t. I had to purchase wasp spray for each of my windows including my suitemates and also purchase a standing fan and air conditioner for my dorm room.

My experience was not great since my suitemates were very loud. My roommate and I had to request multiple times for the toilet to be fixed and it was still messed up. The walk to get food from the dorm was long and it made me consider getting food sometimes because the walk was so long.

I was housed in Midrise as a Freshman and it was a great experience. I met many great people, both students and staff. The staff, in particular were always friendly and gave great conversation. I would recommend it highly for anyone looking for dorms as a Freshman.

It is a nice dorm. Just needs to work out some kinks like when there is something wrong with your dorm, it takes them a while to come. Other than that, I would stay there again. The location is not that bad. It is a bit far from the cafe though.

The dorm is huge, co-ed, big living room, big bedroom, 3 bedroom, 2 big bathrooms, 2 vending machines on the first floor, 2 elevators, movie nights, game nights, it is great. Way more than enough room for you and your roomate.

Overall, I love my experience at Midrise. Midrise is a pretty environment for someone who is serious about their education and need a quiet environment to get done. Despite the altercations due to COVID, I had the opportunity to meet various people from different demographics that all want to succeed and give back to the community.
