Morrill Tower Dorm Reviews at Ohio State

My first semester at Morrill Tower has been really nice, and I’ve enjoyed the setting here. One of the things I appreciate most is how the study area is separate from the bedroom, so I don’t have to worry about staying up late and disturbing my roommate. The common room in each suite is also a great spot for hanging out with new friends, studying, or just relaxing after a long day of classes. Plus, having both a heater and air conditioning in the room is a bonus—something not all dorms have—so I don’t need to worry about buying a fan. However, one downside is that Morrill Tower is a bit farther from campus compared to other dorms, so it takes longer to walk to class, especially when the weather is freezing. Additionally, there are only two washing machines on each floor, which means sometimes you have to wait for your turn to do laundry. On a more positive note, there’s a dining place on the first floor, which is really convenient in the mornings when I just need to grab something quickly. However, compared to other dining options, it offers fewer choices. As an international student and a freshman, I feel like I’ve adjusted well to my new college life here at Morrill Tower. It’s been a comfortable and welcoming place to start my journey at Ohio State.

While the rooms are set up nice and you get your own bathroom within your suite, overall the building is not maintained whatsoever. There is often trash simply laying all over the floors without anyone cleaning it for hours. There are only two washing machines per floor and they do not clean the clothes. The front desk staff is kind. The showers within the personal bathrooms had mold when we arrived. The outside stairs are trashed with cigarettes and no one has ever cleaned them up.

I’ve lived here for an entire semester so far and this has been the best dirm so far. The RAs are reasonable and are great hosts of the dorm events. I have met so many people so far that I would like to create lasting relationships with.

My dorm room on the 23rd floor of Morrill Towers is surprisingly nice. I’m in a quad with 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms and a total of 12 girls. Although this can be somewhat challenging, sharing living space with so many ladies from many different backgrounds, my overall experience has been great. As a freshman, not sure what to expect, I’ve encountered new adventures, new experiences and made lots of new friends.

I have a great suite with only 2 of us in a room intended for 4, but I don’t like the location of the tower. I think with 4 girls sharing the space it would be a little cramped. The good thing, however, is it’s close to the stadium and there is food service available in the building.

I am freshman living in Morrill Tower and I have been pretty satisfied. Although it's an older building, it is very spacious and my roommates and I have found it very easy to decorate and make the place our own. It is also very easy to meet people on your floor. I also have a window facing the stadium which is defiantly a plus.

Morrill Tower is one of the older residence halls on campus and as such is in need of a remodel. With that said, it has a unique suite layout that allows for socializing while still having dedicated study rooms for everyone. Additionally, it is quite nice to have a private bathroom and living room for each suite.

Morrill Tower is the perfect place to form your own little community. Especially during these trying times during the pandemic your few neighbors are your closest friends. With only 5-6 people in a dorm this year it‘s actually been wonderful, we get an apartment-like suite and only 5 of us have to share 3 toilets, 4 sinks, and 2 showers. Every room has a fridge and it’s pretty spacious if you have the quad room. The desk area for one is perfect and I couldn’t imagine sharing it with another person.

My experience has been mostly positive due to the layout of the dorms allowing for me to easily meet my fellow dorm mates. Due to Covid-19 the common areas are mostly closed down but I believe that they will be an integral part of the experience once they reopen. The bathroom is shared among the four rooms in the cluster and was initially quite dirty, unfortunately me and my dorm mates had to clean it the maintenance did not.
