Purcell Dorm Reviews at Piedmont

Purcell hall was built over a century ago but after extensive remodeling the hall has become a wonderful place to live and experience college in. The walls are fairly thick for a college dorm so sound isn't much of an issue. With the school's small campus size, the dorm is a short walk to most of the facilities on campus. This hall is great.

Although it is an older dorm it feels very cozy and has a lot of personality. The lobby has a couch to relax on while you watch TV. The upstairs game room has a slightly broken pool table and ping pong table. Across from the game room is a study room that gets a little loud when people are in the game room. The dorms have just enough space for you and your roommate, so don’t bring a lot. Each dorm room comes with a full sized fridge and a microwave, so you don’t have to bring your own. The dorm comes with a full bathroom that you share with your suit mates. There is a good chance somewhere in your bathroom will have mold. The RA can call maintenance to “clean” the mold but the shower caulking needs to be replaced. The paint on the shower floor also peels up every time you clean it so wear shower shoes. The sink area is very spacious for all your bathroom necessities. But the sinks do not come with a drain plug so buy one or your fork may slip down the drain. Purcell may not be the new and improved dorms but it is freshman friendly for those of us who may not have cars. It’s close to the commons so it’s a quick 5 minute walk down. Which is perfect for going to the late night grill.

Purcell Hall is a very interesting experience. While the building is old, it is noticeable that the building is seeing its age. The school is committed to upgrading the building but it is taking longer than wanted. The bathrooms have mold in them and need some help. While Piedmont is upgrading the building, it is taking longer than hoped.

Purcell was a whirlwind. The RA’s weren’t bad but the overall living experience wasn’t appealing. You make do with the little you have. You have no closet, more than likely will share a bathroom with at least two other people or 3 max. If you have a choice..don’t stay in there.
