I was placed in Williams Hall my second semester of my first year in college. The dorm was nice and clean. I was in the hall during covid and this hall was used as an all athletes hall. Everyone was respectful and the area (for my floor) was always kept clean.

Williams Hall is the first and only dorm I have had experienced before the pandemic took over. I would describe this Hall as loud and filled with freshmen, there was an incident of a person having been taken out of the building by first responders but the event was taken care of swiftly. Since this hall is filled with mostly freshmen there were cases of alcohol usage, marijuana, and major complaints about the trash filled cans in the common areas. I wouldn't go as far to say this is a bad environment to learn. On week days you can see students studying in the common areas and working together. The weekends are loud and mostly laid back. Also, at least three days out of the week, the dorms are cleaned. However, the first couple of weeks of living in a tight-knit community you start to notice how some people lived very differently. Nonetheless, this dorm was a true experience when living with peers and it is a different way to see different characteristics.

In my first year it was something definitely new but I got quite adjusted to Williams. everything in the hall seemed very organized and I was able to make a lot of new friends due to the closeness of the dorms and common areas.

Overall, Williams Hall was a good place to live for my freshman year at Redlands. The CAs had floor meetings and events pretty often so you got to know the other people you live with. I think our floor was a little bit too loud (if you want to study) and full of partying people, but it depends on the environment you like. It's not good at all if you want an actual substance-free living experience, my roommates and I (one of whom has asthma) had a really hard time with the smells of smoke and weed all the time.
