Prairie Hall Dorm Reviews at SIUE

A lot of the people have no concept to realize that other people live here which is kind of annoying when it's a weeknight, you have morning classes, and you're trying to sleep and people are blasting their music. Other than that the place is nice (I have no roommate) and I love that i can control the thermostat in my room. Bathroom is small but that is to be expected.

Prairie hall is well maintained and well equipped for student needs. Prairie hall has internet and room space to study in the dorms or head to the study lounges to study with fellow students. The staff is super friendly and maintenance is available 5 days a weak to get the job done as soon as possible.

It was nice. I lived in Prairie Hall during Covid, so there were not many actives so there usually would be. The bathrooms are very nice! I would make sure to have roommates/suitemates that you know will help clean the bathroom clean. The rooms are very spacious for a dorm room. The closets have plenty of room and storage.

The staff and the residents were all very kind and responded quickly to student concerns, but within the first month we experienced a severe mold problem in the carpet. This made my roommate and I sick. It was taken care of, but it had to be redone multiple times in order to fully get rid of it; a humidifier was also necessary. Contacting maintenance was simple and they usually came to fix the reported problem right away, as long as it's during the week earlier in the day. The common areas are very nice and well maintained. It is also nice that bathrooms are shared between suitemates and are not communal. The room and bathroom space are a good size. The windows in the room are also nice, but they are not very soundproof. If your neighbors are loud you will be able to hear them clearly.

The bathrooms and rooms are a good size but there is a mold problem and it is unlikely you will be moved to another room without the possibility of mold. The common areas and study rooms are nice as well. The pro is that the staff are all kind and helpful in the building.
