Dorchester Dorm Reviews at St. Mary's

The overall experience was positive for a first year dorm. The RA staff planned events and experiences to meet other residents. The bathrooms and laundry room were well cleaned, and the AC and heating in the building worked fairly well.

My experience at Dorchester was similar to most of the freshmen who go to St. Mary's. I happened to live on a hall with a lot of friendly and chill guys who made the semester enjoyable. My roommate and I got along and both had our own schedules, so we didn't get in each other's way too often. For an all-guy dorm, it was pretty quiet. However, every once in a while the fire alarm would go off at random times, which was frustrating. Dorchester is a pretty old dorm, but the common areas and living areas are decent. Laundry is free, and there are places to store your bikes if you decide to bring one.

I lived in Dorchester during my freshman year at St. Mary's. The dorm building itself is very old, but the inside is kept up well. The bathrooms are what you would expect, so I would recommend that everyone have shower shoes. For the dorms, it is easy to decorate them to make them more comfortable. The dorm itself is at a good location, close to academic buildings and to the dining hall. It is also only a 10-minute walk from the other side of campus. At this dorm, it is very easy to get to know your roommates. I met people on my hall that I'm still good friends with today. However, it might be difficult for someone who is looking for a quiet living experience. Because the room assignment is random, a student wouldn't know what people they might be next to, if they are loud or quiet.
