Dowling Hall Dorm Reviews at St. Thomas

This dorm was remolded recently. The rooms and closets are small, but we made it work. The common areas are nice and there is room to spread out. Campus is small so there is no bad location. Only downside is no air conditioning.

I stayed on the 3rd floor as a freshman. My RA was nice, and my roommate was pretty cool as well. There were a few times where other students on the same hall got too loud at night or in the morning but overall dowling was fine.

It is one of the oldest dorms on campus but, it is still very livable and is a fine place to live at St. Thomas. It is also getting renovated soon, so it will probably only improve. The bathrooms and laundry room are the oldest and worst parts of the dorm, hands down.

When I started at BPC, I started as a freshman in the freshman dorm. It was a great way to start in college. It allowed for more mingling among students and dorm residents. However, it was nice to move to a calmer dorm with a smaller residential size. It made it easier to studying and relax in a home away from home atmosphere.

Dowling Hall is in a great location on campus with parking (permit only) surrounding the area. Quiet and clean. The floor I am on was an all girls floor so the showers are low and the toilet paper is thin. The upper floors of the building is hot, I run a fan all the time and often open a window. The staff are very friendly.

Overall, it was a great experience. I spent living in Dowling Hall for a year. My RA was awesome and my friends living on the same floor were awesome as well. Whenever I needed some quiet time or I needed to go to sleep early, the people on my floor made sure to stay extra quiet during those times.

The cleaning staff do an excellent job at cleaning the lounge and the bathrooms. The location is close to both dining halls and is set up nicely. It is fairly quiet especially with the quiet hours the campus has.

I enjoy being a resident of Dowling Hall. There are 6 levels and each is a little unique from the others. The building is older but is more updated on the top two floors. There is also a good amount of room in each of the dorm rooms.

I lived in the basement of Dowling Hall and it definitely did not disappoint. I loved my RA and the maintenance staff was always super friendly and helpful! It would get rowdy on Thirsty Thursday or during the weekends but during the week it was a great place to study and meet new people on your floor!

It is one of the older dorms but is relatively nice, and I can't complain about much other than the communal bathrooms. I like privacy. I don't prefer to serenade my roommates but there really isn't another option.

I had fun living in Dowling as a freshman. There are many ways to get involved, and it is very easy to make friends if you want to insert yourself. I would say living in Dowling was essential to my first-year experience. I still am friends with some people I had met in the bathrooms on my floor, and I have Dowling to thank for that! The rooms are also very spacious for a dorm, and there is plenty of closet space for both you and your roommate - I never felt like claustrophobic, or that all of my stuff didn't have a place in the room. I will say that the elevator was a bit slow, and I lived on the 6th floor, but that may have been fixed by now!

Dowling is your typical all girls freshman dormitory. There are community bathrooms and a shower room for each floor and wing. The walls are thin so good luck trying to get to bed early on a Thursday night... however, it was a good experience. Would recommend the new dorms on campus, however those are probably more expensive.
