Tommie North Dorm Reviews at St. Thomas

It’s very convenient being right above the dining hall and in a building that’s connected to the tunnels across campus. There’s two kitchens and around 12 study rooms on each floor. Newer building with AC and adjustable heat.

One of the nicest buildings on campus. Quietness varies depending on the floor you’re on but it’s very nice because everyone on each floor is so close and the RA’s host events where everyone can get together and have fun! There is also a dining hall and convenience store in the building, everything is available to you so easily.

I was very pleased with my year at Tommie North hall. It is very convenient to have the dining hall in the same building. Especially during the winter months when you just want to stay inside. The rooms include a nice and spacious walk in closet and I felt very secure in my room. In order to get in you need to have the student id that matches the room, therefore others could not get in.

It feels a lot like a hotel. It is brand new, but yet feels old. You can tell the construction of it was rushed. or instance I like above the dining hall and I constantly hear the dishwasher running, and the air vents are really noisy.

For a new dorm there are a lot of issues. The elevators don't work and they take forever to show up on the floor you want. It is easier to take the stair if you are in a rush. Although it is nice to have the dinning hall right on the first floor. They also aren't building any type of community on the floor. Overall it feels like you are living in a hotel. Nothing special.

Tommie North has been a great experience so far. The staff are so nice and will spark up a conversation too. The location isn't ideal as it is on the upper north side of campus but walking to classes even on the lower campus isn't bad.
