Les Gerig is definitely a dorm with a big sense of community. Everyone there is friendly and will wave or say "Hello." However, this is true for most students on campus. The lobby is very much a social area where people will chat, play games, and do homework. My only caution is that is does have a negative stereotype on campus of being a rather "nerdy" dorm. However, it is a lot of fun.
