It was great overall and the price was well worth it. It was close to the campus and I could walk from the dorm and back in five minutes. The rooms were okay and the common areas could be livelier. I would recommend it to anyone who likes quiet and peaceful areas.

Hale Ikena is a great starter for students who seek an easy on-campus option with additional amenities such as a personal kitchen. However, as with most on-campus options, there are issues within the dorms that don't always receive attention or simply reoccur, with little to no regard from staff.

Ikena was great but the staff was often uncaring to my specific needs. It would take weeks to respond to noise complaints and days to maintenance requests. There were many times when I felt like I was being followed and security didn't assist, even knowing my ptsd. Otherwise, it was fine.

Hale Ikena is one of the βnicerβ dorms because it has a common area, as well as, a kitchen to cook in. One of the main things is that these dorms are very old, so there are paint chips, dents, broken cabinets, chunks of the wall missing where things were hung on the walls, and other small maintenance issues. The other dorms on this campus do not contain a kitchen or bigger common space to hang out in. It is nice to live in the Hale Ikena dorms because itβs almost like a small apartment. The bathroom space, however, is a little small. There is also a smaller closet space, but, it is very doable. There is security that is always walking around the campus for safety reasons which is comforting.
