Wallace Residence Center - Ballard Wing Dorm Reviews at University of Idaho

It was very easy to adjust life to residing in the Ballard Wing. The dorm rooms were good enough for comfortable living and came with a microwave and mini fridge which was nice not having to buy those things.

So far, I've had lots of trouble with the VandalCards and temporary cards. Its too easy to accidentally lock yourself out or misplace your card, and not have access to your meal plan. The dorms themselves are cramped cheap. The shelves aren't aligned correctly, and the swinging door to the bathroom is covered in rust bubbles. There are cockroaches everywhere. There is ample closet and shelf space for belongings. The bunks do not have a ladder other than the wide spaced 2x4's at the end of the bed, which make someone with joint pain and back problems very uncomfortable. The heat works great. Having the dining hall so close is a big plus, but the hours of operation are at odds with my schedule. Having access to dryers and washers on my floor is very convenient. Having a laundry board or rec room board would go a long way to keeping things organized. The dorms are situated near large parking lots which make travel easy. If you don't mind the critters, the noisy neighbors, and the tight quarters, this place would be alright.

Living in Ballard was mostly terrible with a splash of okay. I was in a single room, which was great, but the environment in Ballard tends to be really clique-y and judge-y. The girls on my floor would constantly all hang out together for "floor events" and somehow forget to invite me. I've heard that this isn't just a freak incident, either; multiple other people have felt isolated and left out by the attitude of the community in Ballard.

The dorm rooms are a new experience and can feel quite weird especially with the new environment. But it is really nice with how they maintain to keep the dorms clean.The RA makes sure to ask they’re hallway of student show they’re doing , you can communicate with other students.
