Burge Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Iowa

The students on my floor were animals and super unruly, up at all hours of the night and making way too much noise. The RA was generally unhelpful and often had to rely on other staff for help. That said, location is unmatched, recently renovated, dining hall attached, and spacious dorm rooms were great. Bathrooms were usually fairly dirty, but got cleaned very regularly, even on weekends. Overall, I would recommend, as most of the problems were the fault of students and a single RA and not applicable to the hall itself, which is very nice and well kept.

While this dorm has been dubbed "Dirty Burge", I actually had a great freshman year at Burge, and ultimately wouldn't have chosen any other dorm. It is a bit loud on the weekends, but that is to be expected from any college dorm, and its a great location on the East side of campus. Its close to the Catlett dining hall as well as having a dining hall in the building. It also has a store where you can get meals or necessities.

Burge is the oldest dorm on campus. Compared to other dorms it was in pretty bad shape. That didn't change my dorm experience . Did only live there for one semester do to problems with roommate. Ended up at slater dorm with is on the west side of campus.

My experince with burge Hall is the epicenter to meet up with on-campus students, it is convenient and perfectly located for dining in or grabbing a bite to eat at the C-Store that is open to midnight. No Resident hall compares to Dirty Burge not even Catlett and that is proven with the meme page. Gawks!

For the time I was there the dorm halls, bathrooms, and dining halls were all kept up and satisfactory. Safety was upheld through the keycard needed door and elevators so no intruders can get to the residents. I enjoyed the dormitory as a whole, both the staff and the accommodations.

Burge Hall is the Life Line of the East-Side Campus, it is one of the most oldest, but one newly renovated resident halls in Campus. This hall is the epicenter of action, with its own dining hall and campus store making it a quick and convenient when your on the run. It is located near the pentacrest so you can make it to all your classes within 5 minutes. For the dorm rooms they are considerable spacious and have controlled heating so in the winters your warm and toasty.

A great place to meet people especially for the college of engineering since it contains the PIE (People In Engineering) community. The rooms are very large compared to most. Great location to access parts of Iowa City.

Was pretty wild on the weekend and stuff would get messy in the hallways. The cleaning staff did a good job in common areas and bathrooms. Rooms were recently renovated which was nice, but the bathrooms were older. I would recommend living in houses one or two (they are renovated). Common areas offer a good place to study. It is perfectly located near downtown and classes.

The rooms are spacious and the studying areas are perfect for focusing on homework. You can meet lots of great people on your floor and the RA's are very kind. There are quiet hours to not disturb anyone studying which are very helpful during exams.

I absolutely loved living in the dorm rooms and me and my roommate thought that where we are living is the best place to live on campus! I can’t wait to go back! Everyone was super helpful in my dorm and people were there to help if you needed to help and out RA was very helpful with the newer students like me.

I enjoyed my first semester in Iowa while living in Burge Hall. It has been a very enjoyable experience because I found a sense of being at home in Iowa when home for me is in another state. I found a sense of belonging here.

Wasn't my first choice, but I am glad to live here for my first year. Everything is easily accessible, as well as a good location on campus. The size of my room was surprising, there was more than enough live comfortably.

Was often very loud but was right next to campus and downtown and there was always people to talk to and something going on at any point in time. Food was also by far the best compared to the other dorms. Plus the rooms were decent sized

Overall I had a great freshman experience living in Burge. There was never a dull moment living in the dorms and having the dining hall downstairs was an added bonus and very convenient. Burge Hall also provided a convenient store which was beneficial whenever I needed a quick snack.

I have lived in Burge Hall for an entire semester and I have almost no complaints. I live on the newly renovated side of the building and I absolutely love it. I have also been to the non renovated side and it is truly just as spacious and nice. There is a lot of closet space along with room for essentials. It is right in the middle of the campus and has a dining hall within which is very nice when you are trying to squeeze in a meal between classes. Along with the dining hall, each floor has two different study lounges that students can work in to get out of the dorm for a little bit. Finally, the staff and maintenance are so kind and are always looking for a good chat. I would highly recommend living in Burge Hall to anyone looking for on-campus housing next year!

I am in an LLC for engineering, and most of the students on my floor are very quiet and considerate of all of our time and studying atmosphere. I would recommend Burge to any first year Engineering students.

I enjoy my residence hall overall, but there are always things that will annoy you. My neighbors are loud and obnoxious and the bathrooms always seem to get dirty right after they have been cleaned. Other than that the hall is nice. I like my RA and most people are nice. The dining hall and common spaces are all nice and updated. I definitely spend a lot of time there.

Not very clean and very noise party heavy dorm at Iowa. But it was great for getting the college experience. I rooms are a decent size and the location on campus is super nice. Close walking distance to all the buildings and the downtown area.
