Massengale Residential Center Dorm Reviews at University of Nebraska

Massengale is often really out but the area is quiet. The loudness comes from neighbors which stay up all night. The cleanliness of the building is quite nice and the overall structure is too. It is far from the main campus but its okay.

I lived in Massengale for 2 years, while you expect dorms to be loud and distracting even in your room with the door closed, Massengale wasn't and I was in fairly high traffic areas. My first year i was right by the stairwell and it was never overly loud and my second year I was on the floor that received a fair amount of lecturing about noise levels but never found it too loud.

Massengale Residential Center is located on East Campus, which is much quieter and less busy than City Campus. Massengale is only a few years old, so everything is modern, new, and works properly. There are single rooms, double rooms, and 2 and 4 bedroom apartments. All rooms are spacious (bigger than an average dorm) with big windows and closets. The apartments are also really nice, with 2 or 4 bedrooms, a shared living space, kitchen and bathroom. There are lots of lounges and study rooms, and a full kitchen on the fourth floor that is available for anyone to use. There is a beautiful courtyard to study in, along with a firepit and grill. There are yard games, board games, etc you can check out and a pool table, foosball, and ping pong table if you want to play games. If you are interested in social events, there are whole dorm events, as well as individual floor events. In summary, Massengale has everything you would want to have a good dorm experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

The dorm itself is fine but the dining hall is horrible and they claim that it is "state of the art" when the food is beyond subpar and there are few options for people with allergies or food intolerances. Along with that, this is the only place to get food on east campus which makes it impossible to eat reasonably unless you are in an apartment-style dorm room or have a car and the budget to eat out or eat on city campus all of the time due to the way that the busses run.

This is my first year at UNL. Although my roommate and I have struggled, I have loved getting to meet new people. The rooms are huge and I haven't really struggled with managing my space. I like to rearrange my furniture and have found some versatility in the furnishings to do that!

My experience at Massengale has been amazing! The dorms are very nice and a lot newer than any of the dorms on main campus. I really enjoy living on UNL's east campus and think that Massengale has done a very good job at creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
