Jester West Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UT Austin

I loved staying in Jester. It was quiet but still felt like a community. The only things I didn’t like was the community bathrooms, and how small the room was for double occupancy. I personally felt like the rooms could’ve been bigger since there was not a bathroom in it and that the closet and personal space could’ve been more as well.

It's a nice, quiet place. The living conditions are comfortable, and all of my necessities are not at all far away. It's also at a kind of a crux that's near some shopping areas I frequent and my classrooms.

Jester West dormitory at the University of Texas at Austin, I believe, is a testament to sufficient maintenance and care, despite hosting a significant number of students. My experience living in Jester West has been nothing short of exceptional in terms of the cleanliness of the facilities. One of the most surprising aspects of Jester West is the consistent attention to maintenance. I never expected such a densely packed building could genuinely pass as well-maintained. It is evident that the management and custodial staff are committed to ensuring the spaces are well-maintained and comfortable for all residents. The cleanliness of the common areas, including lounges, bathrooms, and kitchens, is always a reminder that “Hey, this building is well maintained!”. As a matter of fact, if I saw something dirty, it would be more surprising than the contrary. The overall condition of the building itself is impressive. At times, you can see how well the maintenance team does, and quickly, at that. Renovations also help in keeping the dormitory looking fresh and modern. The common areas in the first floor and ground floor are well-furnished and provide a comfortable space for students to study and relax. In my time at Jester West, I don't think I can say I ever encountered a situation where the maintenance of the dormitory was anything less than up to par. The dedicated maintenance team most definitely ensures that the living spaces are not just well-kept but are also conducive to the academic and personal well-being of the students.

Jester is a really chill dorm, it's not the most clean ever but the location is good and the people are very relaxed. The staff will listen to you but wether or not they actually make any actions regarding maintenance is 50/50

The floor I lived on was very rowdy and loud late at night during quiet hours. The communal bathrooms were a little gross and the laundry facilities did not work very well. The food at the dining halls were mediocre at best with a few highlights and a few foods that made me feel sick.

I loved the convivence of being in Jester! It's right in the middle of campus, so I was about a 5-10min walk to most of my classes. I also loved living in the same building as the dining hall; it was great to get to stay inside during rainy days!

I have had so much fun in Jester West so far! There are so many different people and each time I go to the dining hall I meet new people, even though the Jester dining halls are not the best. I highly reccomend the Kinsolving dining hall (worth the walk!). I do have to clean my own bathroom because I have a suite but the communal bathrooms are cleaned by the staff. I live on the first floor but have friends who live on the 12th and they have to wait for a long time to get on the elevator so that may be a concern. Also the rooms are VERY dusty and irritate my allergies. As long as you decorate the rooms they can look cute but the rooms are prison like if you don't decorate.

It's honestly not as bad as people say it is! People love to knock on Jester, but it's a safe, serviceable dorm. Sure, it's dirty sometimes, but that's just because you live there with other undergrads! Jester's central location is great for commutes to class, and the dining halls are *inside* your building.

Will help foster community and will help you make friends. There are multiple bathrooms on each floor, password protected to get onto the floor and need your if to get in the building. There are food option other then the dinning hall and a convenient store.

I stayed at Jester West during my three-day orientation at UT Austin. It was very comfortable, especially for one of my few times being away from home for so long. I felt safe and I had a lot of resources around me. If I forgot something, even shampoo, or deodorant, there was a store downstairs that had what I needed at a pretty fair price (compared to the Target nearby). The food was also very good, and there were more food options around like Wendy's. It was also my first time using a community bathroom and it was a good experience. I only waited a few minutes before a shower opened up, and overall it was very clean.

I lived in Jester West Residence Hall during my first year in college. Jester West is one of the more diverse residence halls on the campus, and the staff is friendly. Jester East and West are the most prominent and recognizable residence halls in UT Austin. Jester West is located in a convenient area near most student and university events. Additionally, Jester West is a walkable distance to most frequented university buildings depending on what college you attend.

Amazing! That's simply all it takes to describe the experience. Great location to classes and everything. Friends are everywhere and will sometimes be a bit loud, but I guess that's part of the college experience.

Staying at the Jester West Residence Hall was overall a pleasant experience for my freshman year. The rooms were not the most spacious but were enjoyable. All of the furniture that came with the room was clean and durable. The shared suite bathrooms were really nice to have but I heard the community bathrooms were not bad for the most part. It was mostly quiet throughout the day and the only time it really got noisy was maybe some of the weekends. The only complaint about the noisiness I had was the slamming of doors. It could be heard from down the hall if a door was slammed. The location of Jester West was definitely one of the best perks of living there. There was a dining hall attached to the dorm building and the main walkway of the campus was right outside.

Shared bathrooms get messy if you don't clean them (go figure). Food without going outside is nice especially in the summers. Proximity to the gym and guad is nice. Unfortunately it's across campus from engineering.

I lived in Jester West for 2 years, in the same room on the first floor. The first year was cut short because of covid, but the second I got the full year there with the room to myself. Overall it was a good experience living in jester. The rooms are a bit small and dark, but I loved its location on campus and that I didn't have to leave the building to get food.

I had an amazing experience at Jester West Residence Hall. The staff is very friendly and the maintenance was great. The halls are secure because you need a keycard to enter each floor. The location is nice due to the fact the dining hall is in the same building. The bathrooms are always clean because the janitors do a great job. The students here are kind and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience.

Overall Jester is a really popular dormitory for incoming freshman to live, before covid there were many events that are always happening around Jester and it's always a good time to make friends. The only bad thing is the rooms are kind of small and depending on your taste you may or may not enjoy the dorm food.

Pretty good, everything works out well and the food is alright. I personally got a suite so my room was a little bit bigger, but I would say size is more on the limited size. The dorm does not have anything special to it, it is what it is in that it is what you'd expect.

Jester West is a great place to live as a freshman because the location is fantastic and you will meet a lot of people from your class! It also has great food courts and the famous ''Jendy's'' (wendy's) which is open until 2am ish which makes it the perfect late snack spot

Jester Hall is in the center of the university. It's so close to everything. The only thing I didn't like about them when I stayed there as a freshman was that the dorms were extremely small as they were shared between two people. Other friends also stayed in the same building, but compared to mine they got lucky. Mine did not have a sink in my dorm nor closets as other dorms did. It was extremely expensive to stay there. It's more affordable living out in an apartment or anywhere else.
