My experience at The Castillian has been a mix of learning, independence, and personal growth. Living there gave me a real taste of what it means to be on my own while still being surrounded by other students who were adjusting to college life just like me. The building was always full of energyβpeople walking to class, studying in the lounge, or just talking in the hallways. It felt like a small community where something was always happening, and I liked that I never felt alone. One of the best things about The Castilian was the location. Being so close to UT Austin made everything easier. I could get to class, the library, or campus events in just a few minutes, which helped me stay focused and manage my time better. I also met so many different people. My neighbors and friends all had unique backgrounds and goals, and living with them helped me learn how to communicate, share space, and understand different perspectives. Of course, it wasnβt perfectβsometimes it was noisy, and balancing social life with school was a challenge. But those experiences helped me grow, stay disciplined, and push myself to succeed. Overall, The Castillian helped me feel confident and prepared for the future.

The Castilian is centrally located within West Campus and in relation to UT Austin. The price per bed is VERY high (it was around $1300/month when I lived there), but I made a ton of friends on my floor that I still keep in touch with today. The rooms were pretty spacious and the view out the window was incredible (windows were double-pane, rarely heard street noise)! The building is known as a party dorm, so studying on weekends was very difficult. Likewise, the residents are RUTHLESS when it comes to Sunday laundryβclothes are removed from machines and placed on tables the second they finish if the owner isn't there to claim them. Lastly, I would only recommend Freshmen to live at The Castilian, as it is not a very academically focused environment. All in all, the location trumped the noise problem and I was glad I got to live at the Castilian.

This dorm is just beyond the campus border, so accessibility to in-person classes are definitely in walking distance. PSA to introverts, off-campus dorm = parties, also it's nicer than on-campus and cheaper. The amenities that come with it are a plus, and the staff is actually really nice/chill. The door tours make the double rooms look huge, but their not. Furnished...but not as big as they make it to seem. Still better than the off-campus dorms through a holistic POV.
