Downey Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Wyoming

The Elevators are constantly in issue, I would rate it a half star if allowed to. Rooms can get scorching hot in the warmer seasons, and some rooms are still so warm that I had to keep windows open all winter not to suffer. The desk assistants and RAs are generally good, and safe it's the lack of care that makes it hard,

My experience in Downey Hall has been quite enjoyable, and I have had a wonderful time interacting with my fellow residents. If I were to make one complaint, however, it would be the building's heating. No matter what time of day or time of year, and not matter the weather outside, the building is always kept at an absurdly high temperature for whatever reason.

Overall great experience. The RAs are amazing and the staff is wonderful. The tunnel system to Washikie is great for colder days. The upper floors are a bit warmer than comfortable some days, but a fan solves that problem.

Downey Hall is centrally located near Washakie Dining. Walking to meals was easy, both in the downstairs walkway and outside. I was on the honors floor which was nice for getting to know peers and working on honors projects.

Housing at Downey was a super convenient experience. Over all the staff is really great! My biggest concern was how out of date the bathrooms were, Every time I showered, I never felt 100% clean. I also wish they had a kitchenette because not being able to cook homemade meals was pretty terrible. Over all I'd say it was a good 1st dorm experience, but could be improved.
