Gooch Dillard is FAR from many things on campus, including classes. Other than that it's been great - especially if you'd like to be in a suite and have your own bathroom but I was personally hoping to be in a hall-style dorm. more

Bonnycastle

Best dorm at UVA--both location-wise and interior. It was renovated and reopened in 2018. Each dorm room has a bed that you can loft, a dresser with a pull-out dry-erase surface, a moveable closet with drawers and a full-length mirror, a desk and chair, as well as full AC and heat. The bathrooms are always kept extremely clean. more

Lambeth Field Apartments

I was placed with some awesome roommates. While the walls are a bit thin and it is easy to hear neighbors or people using the stairwell, I had a pretty great experience living in these on-grounds apartments. more

I had a great experience as a freshman especially with covid and the fact that we had all of our classes online in our rooms. Our RA was great ad created team building. The room was conducive to learning, clean and safe. more

Gooch

I lived in Gooch when almost all of my classes were held online. It was a great dorm to be in during Covid since it was suite style and I didn't HAVE to go to a certain building for class. I would imagine it's a little far for students now who have to report to class. more

Copeley Hall

Quiet area, across the street from the uva business and law schools. Copeley is far from central grounds, but buses can get you there in approximately ten minutes. Very close to barracks shopping center. more

Dunglison House

This was by far the oldest dorm at UVA when I lived here. There was no A/C, and extremely outdated amenities. Everything was nearly falling apart, and there were numerous bugs as the door to the common area led directly outside. It was relatively close to campus, but farther than most other dorms. more

Fitzhugh House

Fitzhugh is one of the few suite-style dorms at UVA, so I shared the suite with 9 other girls. People at UVA refer to Fitzhugh as one of the "motels" because it is relatively short (3 stories) but wide. The upside to the suite-style is that the bathrooms tend to be cleaner and the noise is much quieter than hall-style dorms. The downside is that there is less opportunity to socialize since each suite is locked. Although Fitzhugh is further than most other dorms from classrooms, it is in between two of the better dining halls on grounds and right across from the gym. more

Hereford Residential College

It's really nice and peaceful, however there are a lot of minor problems that add up and make the experience not that pleasant. For instance, the AC has become a huge problem these past couple of days. It's extremely hot in my room and I can't do anything about it. more

Kellogg

My experience at Kellog was good. It was a bit far from central grounds (about 20 minutes) and there were a lot of stairs to climb up. However, it was good. The people there are nice, and maintenance came in when needed. Housekeeping came in Monday-Thursday and cleaned the bathrooms and sweeped the floors, and took out the trash. There was a nice view from the fourth and fifth floor, so you could see the sunrise and sunset. more

I had the best experience in the Page dorm on McCormick road. My first year of undergrad at UVA was during the Covid-19 epidemic. That being said, I spent a lot of time in the dorms with my roommate. This allowed me to build a genuine relationship with my RA and ultimately make amazing friends with my hall mates. It has been three years since my first year in the dorms, and I still live with the same girls that were in my dorm hall. The dorm was extremely clean, air-conditioned, and in a great location. I could not have asked for a better dorm experience, even despite the pandemic! more

Whyburn

My experience at Whyburn is very quiet and personally isolated. Though, there are many opportunities to get out and meet everyone as there are many events with free food around. The cleanliness of the dorms is questionable especially the communal kitchen. It's often quite dirty or people don't know basic house rules of cleaning up after yourself/throwing away spoiled food. The bathrooms are a hit or miss. Sometimes they're sopping wet with no paper towels other times they're clean enough. more

Being away from home for college, Castile Apartments brings me comfort in its amenities offered along with the friendly residents and helpful staff. It's my first experience living away from home and on my own but the apartment makes me feel very "at home" away from home. There are many good food places surrounding the areas from fast food to restaurants. Being a college kid, my go-to being Chick-Fil-A only 10 minutes away, Raising Cane's just across the street, or Poke Express up the road for a taste of home. You also can't beat the convenience of location for the onramp onto the freeway is just behind the apartments! more
