Lohman Complex Dorm Reviews at Capital

For all its flaws, Lohman was my first home away from home. My hall specifically was quiet, and looked out over a gorgeous courtyard. The only issues had with this dorm was the unclean state of the bathrooms and showers. It was obvious they were not being cleaned. This dorm did not have A/C during my stay, but it is being installed now.

I moved into Lohman my freshman year in August. The one main thing that was an issue for me was the fact that there was no ac. I had to keep a fan blowing at all times on max speed and keep a window open to circulate air flow. In the winter it was nice and warm, so no complaints there.

Lohman Complex was an intriguing experience. The dorm was less to be desired. Having cockroaches running at your feet, no toilet paper in bathrooms, and no a/c was the tip of the iceberg. Controlling the temperature in the winter was absolutely impossible. The cleanliness of the dorm was truly astonishing and not in a good way. The only thing good the complex had was the common areas strictly due to the televisions and a/c only found in these areas.

My freshman year I was in Lohman, because of Covid we missed the hot months so it wasn't bad, and they're currently in the process of upgrading the complex. It was quiet and fun, but it was covid year so this could be different.

I lived at Lohman Complex my somphomore year of my undergrad. My experience there was great. I lived with two roomates in the biggest corner room we could find. Although there was no AC, having windows on two sides of the room made for a nice cross breeze when we needed it. Only downside was community bathrooms. I was never a fan of walking down the hall in order to go to the bathroom. Having neighbors and friends living so close made it all worth it!

I have enjoyed living in Lohman on the third floor. It is close to the dining hall and the Cap Center which are places I am in often. The maintenance needs to be better as we have had two of ours door unavailable for most of the year.

I have lived in Lohman for almost a year and it has not been a bad experience. Sometimes there are loud people through the halls, but nothing crazy. My room is never too cold in the winter. Sometimes the maintenance people are loud because my window is by their door to the basement, but it isn't terrible. The cleaning people are very nice.

One of the great things about Lohman Hall is that there is a lot of storage in the dorm rooms. In the lounge there is a ping-pong table, treadmill, microwave, vending machines, a foosball table, and a couch and TV. Unfortunately, the lounge is in the basement, so there is no cell phone reception. The back doors, which are closer to the dining hall, are also broken and there has not been any maintenance attempts made to fix them.
