Hood College Dorm Reviews

I have very mixed feeling about living in Meyran Hall. It is definitely better than living in Smith but there were still problems. Before Blazer Hall, it was the only dorms with a sink in the rooms which was helpful because you wouldn't have to leave your room to brush your teeth, but the building was very old and the sinks would wet the carpeted floor or leak from the room above. Maintenance was helpful and fixed these problems but it was concerning and irritable how many times it happened. Also the main entrance door would not close for a couple days and was left open which caused a safety hazard. The kitchen on the bottom level was scary and it smelled awful. I lived on the opposite side of the hall of the women bathrooms so I would have to walk a whole hallway every time I had to shower or use the bathroom. There were also only two showers in our women's restroom, which meant sometimes I had to use a different floor's showers. There were also bath tubs in our bathrooms which explains how old the building really is. However, the room size was nice and it is right next to the Dining Hall. I believe they are planning to renovate this building next, hopefully. more

The freshman dorms at Hood are very outdated. They are working on renovating all of these halls at the moment, however, my experience at Coblentz Hall was not the best. Firstly, my roommate and I were placed in a single room that was converted to a double on the fourth floor. It was quite literally like living in a closet. We eventually got placed in a normal sized room on the second floor. This room was a lot nicer with higher ceilings, bigger closets, and a bigger window. Although the carpet was severely stained, there were bugs that would fall from the ceiling, we could hear everything above us, and the pipes would make very loud sounds. The laundry room in Coblentz needs attention, as it smells of mold and there is rust at the bottom of every machine. The bathroom was decent on our floor, but communal bathrooms will obviously be gross at times. Besides the negatives, the location of Coblentz is the best on campus. It is right in front of the field and athletic center, and the dining hall is located on the first floor. more

This is a brand new building for Hood college They keep up on the maintenance and it is very clean. They have several styles of rooms, one where you can sleep for students. Another for just singles and the one I was in was 4 students. But two on each side with your own. more

Great experience so far. I look forward to the new year and adventure college life brings. I am currently a freshman but the school paired me with a good match and although I was looking to move into the new dorm, I don’t mind this one more
