Mahoney Residential College Dorm Reviews at University of Miami

I stayed here my freshman year of college. I met some of my best friends just through sitting in the common areas. Overall I really enjoyed it and wasn’t disappointed about not living in the newer dorm.

I am a student at the U and Mahoney is fine. It is convenient for classes but that is pretty much the only good thing about it. I am always sick and I feel worse when I am in my room. Everything else about it is alright but I wish I could shake whatever I have.

My experience at Mahoney Residential College has been great so far. I like how my room is set up and how I have my own bathroom. The hallways all are always being cleaned daily and the common areas are very clean. The dining halls also have a variety of options to choose from.

I wish the dorms were more clean, because I had to do the cleaning. I feel like this fellow institution is way too expensive for the dorms to not look clean and more novel. Besides, I met various people from different cultures!

Residential colleges like Mahoney aim to create a strong sense of community among students. They often provide opportunities for students to interact with peers who have shared interests and goals. This can foster friendships, collaboration, and a supportive environment.

Great dorm to live in. Depending on the location of the dorm you get you could be facing the city, nature, or the building. The noise was mostly okay except if you were facing the other building you could hear the trash bus be very loud at 7 am. Overall would recommend it!

It is a very good experience. The dorm is well kept and the room has a lot of space, especially the two closets. The room does get very chilly though. But that can be fixed through sweatshirts, socks, and rugs.

Mahoney is a place where you can interact with more people, do more fun activities, and cook in its kitchens. Not only that, it was closer to all of my classes and the dining hall was right next door.

Mahoney Residential College is a wonderful dorm for any upcoming first-year students and students in general who would like to live on campus. By far one of the best and cleanest dorm at UM and also close to classes and restaurants.

Mahoney is a great dorm experience and the added benefit of having your own bathroom instead of a communal floor bathroom. The social scene is not that great and that is not aided by the pandemic but, college is what you make it, so if you want it to be social it will be, but thats all up to your preferences.

The Mahoney dorms are extremely outdated and look similar to a prison; there were constant issues with mold, ants, and roaches regardless of how many times we had our room sprayed. The RA's and front desk staff are nice, but there are definitely better off-campus options.

If you ask any upperclassmen they'll say go Hecht because historically freshman couldn't live in mahoney. Mahoney is bigger, cleaner, has private bathrooms, and is closer to business school. Trust me, Hecht is dirty and chaotic. Mahoney is a little more quiet but you make friends and have a great time. Only downside is that it's a 10-15 minute walk to the gym.

Mahoney is a great dorm to live in at the U! The rooms are a good size and the windows are huge which makes them seem even bigger. Bathrooms are a bit dated but get the job done. RAs and staff are so friendly and wonderful as well.

I am currently a freshman but it seems pretty cool so far. The only thing that is slightly annoying would be some of the neighboring suites. The other kids can get loud at times, especially at night. But it is easy to ignore them and focus on the positives.
