55th Street Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at MMC

There are two rooms in each dorm apt. The rooms are pretty small. If there are 2 people in each room. Then it would be like living in a shoebox. My dad told me the military had bigger rooms. Two people to an apt. You would be able to breathe. So I would keep that in mind. Truthfully and technically speaking. It should only be one person in each room. Safety and health reasons. Because of the size rooms. Especially for the cost of living in the dorms. Some students got a regular apt. and shared the expense. So that's an option if you have someone you trust. I was lucky to have a cool roommate. Others weren't. If you have problems with your roommate. They do have options to change their roommate. Security is pretty tight. The area is very safe. It's pretty cool to get that experience. There's a stove, and apt. size refrigerator. I would suggest bringing an electric countertop broiler. NY is expensive so it's good to food shop in NJ or just bring groceries from home if you live out of state. Target is not too far. Door dash and nearby food places can be expensive so it's best to do your own cooking. Expect to do a lot of washing if you're sharing a room. Because space is limited and you have to share the closet. Unless you buy a big foot locker and put it under your bed.

living in the 55th street residence hall is honestly the best experience! from the staff, students, the views of midtown! i would highly, HIGHLY recommend anyone lives here... especially as a freshmen new to the college game.

I enjoyed my time as a freshman dorming at the 55th Street residence hall. Staff was friendly, and I loved the apartment style living that it provides. You get a full size bathroom and kitchen with stove top and it is located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

I enjoy my time at the 55th Street Residence Hall. The location is in the heart of Midtown East, you can't beat it! The dorms are apartment style with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen with stove top and fridge and full bathroom.

Living in the 55th Street dorms was definitely a right of passage as a freshman. You get the opportunity to meet so many peers and classmates that can lead to long lasting friendships. You are also in the heart of midtown east in New York City, so you can't get a much better location than that when starting your undergrad. I loved my experience overall considering I am still living with a friend I met at the dorms 6 years later even if my roommates were not the most organized or cleanest that I would have liked.

55th Street dorms act like a full apartment. I was most grateful for our full kitchen shared with my other three roommates. I loved my experience at 55th street residence halls. Would highly recommend

Everyone at 55th is super welcoming and helpful to anything you need! The security is amazing and our RAs are wonderful! The dorms are nice and large and you get your own kitchen and shared bathroom! There is also a convenience store on the second floor, gym, study rooms, and a laundry room.

The experience living here was amazing! Such a convenient location to the M,E,4,5,6,N,Q, and W. That will get you far around the city. The dorms have a wonderful gym, grocery store, and laundry room inside. The rooms themselves are extremely spacious unlike most NYC apartments.

It's overall a great dorm building! The heating and cooling systems can be a little strange. Personally I've never been able to have heat in my room - which is crazy considering how much I'm paying to go to school here and how much it is to live in the dorms.
