Lenape Hall

3 Reviews

My experience has been poor unfortunately at Lenape. Yes, on my floor it may be quiet but it doesn't resolve the disgusting smell of weed. Living with no air conditioning is manageable, but going to a communal bathroom that is disgusting and isn't well kept is not. The space of my room is okay, I don't feel extremely cramped. Going downstairs to the lounge area, I like it and like to do my homework in their computer lab. It's not terrible in the spots that don't matter. more

Ridgeview

3 Reviews

Living at Ridgeview was a great experience. The hall had newly updated facilities, comfortable common areas, and the rooms were in great condition. Ridgeview is located at the back of campus near the athletic field, which showcases the beautiful scenery at New Paltz. more

Minnewaska Hall

I like the size of the suites and it is in a good location for the dining hall but far away from academic buildings. The building is fairly new and in good condition and there are friendly people and RAs there. more

Gage Hall

2 Reviews

While living in Gage Hall, I was assigned a triplet room with two other roommates whom I did not know. The space was tiny compared to other twin rooms being more roomy. Luckily I was able to be moved into a double room later on. Unfortunately, the process to switch dorm rooms was long and stressful. more

Scudder Hall

2 Reviews

I stayed in the basement of Scudder for two semesters and it was probably my favorite dorm experience. It was pretty quiet and the location was great, right near sub and dining hall. It was relatively clean. more

Bouton Hall

1 Review

Overall, Bouton is great! Going into my freshman year of college, I was most nervous to dorm. The staff of New Paltz placed me with my current roommate who is my new best friend. Bouton is the perfect dorm for location. It is really close to the academic buildings and student union. I can't imagine myself in another dorm just off of the location alone. Bouton has a great team of RA's that have many activities to get involved and the residents of Bouton are night owls. The bathrooms are alright, nothing special. A lot of room within the dorms themselves. Clean, I have no complaints! Sure it doesn't have an elevator like Ridgeview, but with an older building, it'll easily become your home. more

DuBois Hall

1 Review

Dub is a great dorm. The rooms are much bigger than the freshman dorms, especially if you get one of the middle rooms with more windows. There are also some cool suites you can live in. The worst part is the cleanliness of the bathrooms, but it really depends on who is living there. The staff do a great job of cleaning every day but (of course) we are college students so people get messy. more

Lefevre Hall

1 Review

It was nice resident to live with friends. The RA were all kind and very helpful. Unlike other freshman dorms Lefevre Hall was meant for people that knew each other. There was not a lot of socializing so don't expect to meet new people. more

Shango/College Hall Complex

1 Review

Honestly, Shango Hall is a really chill place to live. The staff is fantastic, and the other residents are cool. People are always saying that it's not a good hall because it's the oldest on campus, but the majority of those who say that never actually lived in the building, and those who live here know it's not that bad. One thing to keep in mind is that Shango doesn't have AC, but neither do a good majority of the halls, so it's not a Shango-specific fault. Also, we're right next to Wooster and the old quad- which is a gorgeous place to sit, especially when the stars come out. All in all, Shango has a really vintage vibe, and my roommate and I purposefully chose to stay through our second semester on campus! more

Capen Hall

1 Review

Capen Hall was an old building with shared bathrooms and showers. There were no elevators or air conditioning. However, it was located center of the campus which made it very convenient to go to class, grab food or access the library. We had heaters in the winter but in the summer, it was extremely hot and difficult to sleep without a fan. more

Mohonk Hall

1 Review

Very cute hall! RAs are lovely, very clean and tidy. It can be a little stuffy without air conditioning in this late summer season, but we can have fans and leave the windows open. The only real drawback is the bathrooms; one shower and one toilet for six suite residents, but we make it work! more
