Williford Hall Dorm Reviews at Rhodes

I enjoyed my experience at Williford because my roommate and the other people in my hall made it enjoyable. The walls are thin, however. I could hear my neighbors speaking loudly across the hall from me even with both doors closed, but I honestly feel like that's just part of the college experience. Willi is not the cleanest of dorms, there are odd smells in some of the common rooms and hallways, which I've always attributed to people spilling drinks or food on the carpet and not cleaning up very well or leaving their trash out. Honestly, just being respectful of the area around you goes a long way for cleanliness, and the staff do their best to clean everything up. The main common room downstairs is the cleanest common area; it's where most people go. Bathrooms are okay, but sometimes the showers would clog up and it would take a week or a little longer for them to be fixed. Personally, I never ran into the staff that much, but they were always polite when we did. As for location, Willi is one of the dorms in the "back" of Rhodes so to speak, but I enjoyed it because it's not up against a main road, I got to see Rush for the sororities in the spring (the sorority houses are right next to Willi and are quiet except for during Rush), and it was a great location for the majority of my classes. All the dorms have their ups and downs, but I will say overall I enjoyed Willi.

I didn't really run into the staff all that much, but they were polite when we crossed paths. The bathrooms were okay, but sometimes the showers would clog up and it would take a week or more for someone to fix it. Some of the stairways also smelled, but I was never able to figure out why. Similarly, some of the hallways weren't great smell wise either, but I feel that's probably because people would spill stuff or leave trash out (it would get picked up later though by staff so kudos to them!). Honestly, a lot of people don't even spend all their time in the dormitories, so cleanliness really depends on you and your roommate for your dorm room. Williford Hall is in the 'back' of the school so to speak, which might put some people off, but I personally enjoyed it because I got to watch Rush for the sororities in the spring (the sorority houses are right next door), it fit well with my class locations, and it's a good location for packing and unpacking vehicles when you're moving onto or off of campus.
