Ellingson Hall Dorm Reviews at St. Olaf

Ellingson Hall is probably the best freshman dorm at St. Olaf. The rooms are all doubles but decently spacious. There is an elevator, it’s a little slow but convient. The bathrooms are probably the best for freshman dorms and are cleaned every weekday morning.

Living at Ellingson Hall was a lovely experience! I ended up with a single room on the top floor that had a lot of "character" (slanted ceilings, etc). The bathrooms and common areas were newly renovated and clean (at least in terms of a college dorm! - cleaner than other dorms I lived in). There's a nice piano in the lounge, along with a tiny kitchenette that leaves something to be desired but is functional. The only bad part is the vacuums - they are old and disgusting. Bring your own Dust Buster and you will love living at Ellingson!

I lived on the second floor of Ellingson close to the bathroom. My dorm was a nice and cozy white room with big windows and enough space for two people. I really liked living in Ellingson because It had nice bathrooms and a lounge area that had games. It was also really close to Buntrock and had access to a small hiking trail.

I am so grateful I was housed in Ellingson Hall my freshman year at St. Olaf. I met many of my current friends on the fourth floor of Ellingson throughout my freshman year!! Ellingson is by far the nicest freshman dorm because of its updated bathrooms and useful common spaces in the middle of each floor; another benefit is that Ellingson has an elevator, which is useful when moving in and out of the dorms. One downside is that the building is a bit of a distance for the center of campus and is a very cold walk during the winter. Another downside is that the rooms on the fourth floor are smaller due to the design of the slanting roof. Overall, Ellingson Hall is a great place to live with friendly staff and great people!!

I enjoyed staying at Ellingson because the staff did their best to build a community and provide a safe space. Our dorm building was the best out of all the dorms for the freshman and I can definitely vouch for that.
