Yang Hall Dorm Reviews at Stony Brook

Since this building houses freshmen in the honors program, it is a bit on the newer and modern side compared to other buildings. One nice thing about this building compared to other freshman buildings is that there is an ac and heating system that you can control.

My experience at Yang hall was overall a great one. The dorms were very quiet and it has a great location on campus, right across from West Side Dining. The lounge had a pool table and a projector that you could connect your laptop to. There was also a kitchen that was always clean.

I love my experience at Yang Hall. I really like the layout of the suite (3 doubles with separate shower room and bathroom). The common area is pretty spacious with 2 sofas and a coffee table. The kitchen in the basement is very spacious so you and your friends can cook together. There are also lounge areas on each floor where you can do work. Yang Hall is right across the dining hall and close to classes.

Yang Hall is one of the newer dorms on campus. With that being said, it is also one of the hardest dorms to get into unless you’re magically placed there by Campus Residences. The only bad thing about Yang is the fire alarms are very sensitive so be prepared for it to go off at 3AM throughout the semester
