Santa Cruz Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UCSB

I lived in a Santa Cruz Hall dorm room with two other students during my freshman year at UCSB. While space was sometimes an issue, the dorms felt brand new and everything worked well and was kept consistently clean. Santa Cruz Hall is pretty much on the beach so location was unbeatable, and there are spacious well kept lawns right outside the dorm that allow for a variety of activities. Overall I was extremely pleased with my experience in Santa Cruz Hall.

My first year at UCSB consisted of living in Santa Cruz Residence Hall, which was truly a unique experience. Here I met some of my closest friends, including my roommates that I got along with pretty quickly. The view from my room included the beautiful beach as it was only a 2 minute walk away, literally being my backyard. Noise was never a problem as people were usually considerate of others or were out and about at nighttime. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the closest bathroom to my room as people would always trash the place and not know how to maintain it well. I genuinely felt bad for the maintenance workers as people would have dozens of paper towels on the floor, messes on the toilet seats and the floor, and even messes in the shower. Hopefully in the future, there can be a better system for this as a communal bathroom should be ideal for the whole community as it's the main place students maintain their hygiene.
