I’m in a double in the north tower of San Cat. The building is beautiful and the rooms are nice. It sucks that is is a mile off campus but the bike ride isn’t bad and the buses run from here to school frequently. more

Anacapa Hall

Anacapa Hall, the first experience I've had, was not the best. We had fire alarms go off so much during the night, loudness at night, and plumbing issues. As much as I enjoyed how pretty my window view was, I did not feel too safe there. In addition, I don't blame the staff for the mess that was in our dorm, it really was many other people's fault. From overflowing trashcans to girls leaving hygiene products in the showers/toilets, it was disgusting. The sinks' water was always too hot and there was almost always maintenance happening in the bathrooms. I believe the other halls were much more engaging, quiet, and fun. I felt left out despite finding many good friends, but again this is my personal experience. more

San Joaquin Villages

Environmentally friendly and beautiful architecture. It is a little far from campus but you can take a bus or bike. There are bike lanes connecting to campus. There is a market that has basic groceries and you are down the street from a Target and a Costco so shopping is convenient more

Santa Rosa Residence Hall

Although Santa Rosa is the oldest residence hall in Santa Barbara, it is still very lively and social. I loved everyone in my hall and the all the staff do a great job of maintaining it safe and clean. It has a nice main lounge with a baby grand, and many tiny study rooms. The bathrooms have multiple stalls and sinks. And the recreation room has a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, foosball, vending machines, and a center area with a tv. The only thing some people might complain about might be that the walls are thin and sometimes you can hear people doing late night activities. Another plus is that it is close to the other "shorties" dorms like Santa Cruz and Anacapa, and the De La Guerra Dining hall. Many nostalgic memories were created there. more

Santa Cruz Residence Hall

I lived in a Santa Cruz Hall dorm room with two other students during my freshman year at UCSB. While space was sometimes an issue, the dorms felt brand new and everything worked well and was kept consistently clean. Santa Cruz Hall is pretty much on the beach so location was unbeatable, and there are spacious well kept lawns right outside the dorm that allow for a variety of activities. Overall I was extremely pleased with my experience in Santa Cruz Hall. more

San Nicolas Residence Hall

My time at San Nicolas was less than impressive. The outdated and poorly maintained building, cramped common areas, and lack of cleanliness were major drawbacks. The small, basic room lacked comfort and storage space, while thin walls contributed to constant noise disturbances. The communal bathrooms were unclean and lacked privacy. Although the dorm had convenient location and reliable Wi-Fi, the absence of community and social opportunities made it an unmemorable experience. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this dormitory for those seeking a comfortable and enriching college living environment. more

Tropicana Del Norte

The Woodlands are a great apartment complex to live off campus. They are very accommodating, have very nice and maintained amenities and the social interactions and gathering they hold are very fun. There are shuttles that take you to the bus stop which is nice on those cold and rainy days. There are also a wide variety of apartment types that accommodate any living situation and they also allow pets! more

San Nicolas Hall

The dorm itself is old and you will likely be in a single room double or triple. Each floor has a kitchen (without fridge) which is super useful but it can get messy. Same with the bathrooms, they can also get pretty messy. more

Being at San Rafael was a great time! Made some awesome friends, but be prepared for mostly upperclassmen. The left side of the campus is usually where they stay so keep that in mind if you're a freshman. Otherwise super fun! more

Sierra Madre Villages

Life at Sierra Madre was amazing, being so close to the beach and spending time with all of the people in the different halls everyday was an experience I'll never forget. Only complaint was the sharing of bathrooms which would occasionally be a mess from others. more

San Miguel Hall

As both a resident and a desk attendant at San Miguel last year, I can confidently say that it was one of the best experiences. There are plenty of common areas that allow for a lot of interaction which creates a great community. Along with this, San Miguel is located perfectly, being near all the lecture halls as well as the beach. The only downside to San Miguel may be the constant issues with bathrooms and other issues in peoples' rooms. more

The school also makes accommodations for students with specific housing requests, reserving rooms for students who have disabilities, are transgender, or are in a sorority or fraternity. Second-year students and upperclassmen, however, can stay in some of the same buildings, though they can also live in bigger dorms that have common areas and private bathrooms. more

I really enjoyed my first year at Tropicana Villas, particularly because of the suite-style rooms with the bathrooms and the livingroom area. Even though I shared a living space with 3 other girls (2 in each room), it did not feel overwhelming. I had the living room to spend time in if I wanted to be alone, which is tough to do in a dorm. more

Pendola House

Overall, the cleanliness of Pendola, Manzanita Village was extremely unkempt. I don't believe this is related to the staff, but more so the students who live in the building. Aside from that, I enjoyed the location since it is quieter than other dorms and has great access to the beach. more

Sierra Madre Apartments

I think it is a nice place to stay at a good distance from the campus and city. There is a great community there even with COVID-19 and all of the changes that have recently been enforced. Wish it could be a little safer overall. more
