Santa Rosa Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UCSB

Although Santa Rosa is the oldest residence hall in Santa Barbara, it is still very lively and social. I loved everyone in my hall and the all the staff do a great job of maintaining it safe and clean. It has a nice main lounge with a baby grand, and many tiny study rooms. The bathrooms have multiple stalls and sinks. And the recreation room has a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, foosball, vending machines, and a center area with a tv. The only thing some people might complain about might be that the walls are thin and sometimes you can hear people doing late night activities. Another plus is that it is close to the other "shorties" dorms like Santa Cruz and Anacapa, and the De La Guerra Dining hall. Many nostalgic memories were created there.

My experience in Santa Rosa was quite interesting. I believe Santa Rosa is one of the better dorms at UCSB because it is closest to the library and University Center, so the commute is fairly short. I did not experience any ant problems like the other dorms did, but my dorm room was very dusty due to the carpet. Social life in Santa Rosa wasn't very active but I think it was because I didn't put in the effort to make friends there. The RA's are very nice and helpful, and the host activities almost every week to keep students relaxed and engaged in their dorm community. The study lounges are usually very packed when it is raining or trying to late night study which was not beneficial for me since going to the library alone at night or in the rain was not ideal. The bathrooms at Santa Rosa are cleaned everyday but sometimes, it conflicts with my schedule, so I often have to rush to find another bathroom so I'm not late to class. Overall, my experience at Santa Rosa was mediocre because there were always constant fire alarms, but the distance from the lecture halls and classes made up for it. I liked Santa Rosa because of how efficient, quiet, and clean it was. Santa Rosa is also fairly safe and have very strict rules about having no guests over during major campus events.
