La Plata Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Maryland

La Plata Hall's location is fantastic and it has the best amenities in its designated community. For where it is, and understanding that the building is old, I really enjoyed my experience living here.

Huge mold problem. The university did not want to acknowledge the problem or help remedy said problem. The university enrolled more students than they had room for and many students were forced into "flex" rooms. These were basically rooms with extra students added or common areas turned into rooms

It was an okay experience. It is still a traditional style dorm with hall bathrooms. Many of the universities that I have visited have moved to suite style dorms. I personally prefer those. On the weekends, the bathrooms could be a mess and sometimes would not be cleaned until Monday afternoon.

I had a nice, classic dorm experience. I met some of my best friends. The location was far from classes but you are with all of the other freshman so everyone is in it together. Living in LaPlata was a great bonding experience that gave me lifelong friends and hilarious stories to tell.
