Thomas Jefferson Hall Dorm Reviews at Missouri S&T

TJ Hall is TJ Hall. They are the cheapest dorms and don't provide much. You get a place to sleep and study and that's about it. The Cafeteria hall is at least decemt. Not the worst place to live but you can do better at S&T for sure.

I'm mainly happy with Thomas Jefferson hall because I enjoy the dorm mates around me. The dining hall is also in the same building, which is very helpful for when I need a meal in the middle of the day.

Overall I had a great experience living in TJ Hall. Many people complain about the TJ cafeteria food, but it's really not that different from what you would expect at a public high school, and there are many other dining options a short distance away. A lot of your day to day experience is dependent on your floor and neighbors. I never really experienced any sort noise problems on my own floor, though we had a lot of quieter kids, on the floor below people were a little rowdier, but they also had a more lively dynamic. There's a computer lab with access to university programs so you don't have to head over to the library just to finish an assignment and in general it was easy to find places to study

With Covid19 the dorm seems empty, but there are still plenty of people at meal times and the pool hall is still a great place to relax after dinner before going back upstairs to study. Because everything is in one building, I can do laundry, eat in the cafeteria, study in my room or my floors commons and not interact with anyone from outside.

Thomas Jefferson is slightly cramped, even with one person to a room. However it is overall a nice place to live. The recreational areas have plenty of space and the internet is very good. The biggest downside is that most activities this year are cancelled.

Since Covid the dorms are empty. It's always quiet, but the cafeteria and game rooms downstairs are still fun. I learned to play pool this semester and the kitchenette on each floor make snacking easy between meals.

Thomas Jefferson is the oldest housing at Missouri S&T, but it is still a good option for students. It is the cheapest housing available and the location makes it a good choice for students who intend to travel back home or do not wish to be close to a lot of campus noise. The limited amount of space at TJ makes it a good option for people looking to not be surrounded by a lot of people at all times as well.

I love it here! People are fairly sociable; however, everyone has a mutual understanding of the best times & days to be quieter as we all understand how heavy each student's workload is. We don't want our sleep & studying interrupted, so we don't do it to others. The staff are incredibly friendly & actually establish nice friendships with the students. I have a community restroom, but it's clean every single day (especially important due to COVID) & I never feel uncomfortable because our custodian is very considerate. The common areas are phenomenal--we have a lot of fun stuff to do in our free time that we don't have to walk across a cold campus for. Not to mention, the building is right outside of campus & along the streets that have a lot of fun stuff.
