Global Scholars Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Oregon

Global Scholars Hall was such an upgrade from Hamilton Hall. Way more space, it felt more luxurious and worth the money. Some of the amenities are also way better. For example they have a lot more fresh and healthier eateries. The building itself just has a lot of natural light and has such an overall great atmosphere

Other than the floors not being level, I really liked it there. The rooms were huge, and had large windows. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning, but it stayed fairly cool in the Spring. I loved the proximity to classes.

I lived in a 4-person suite in the Global Scholars Hall. My roommate was not there for the majority of my time, but I still had my two suitemates with whom I shared a bathroom with. Overall, the cleanliness of the hall was nice, although sometimes there would be food spilled on the stairs for several days. For example. there was a lot of ketchup spilled on the stairs for a week at the end of the term. Noise was not usually an issue on my floor, and any noise was the result of the walls being rather thin and was not the fault of the individuals making the noise. The common rooms were pretty nice at my dorm and there would be people who would clean the room. The location of my dorm was in a pretty safe part of campus and Eugene, but there were a couple of reports of individuals coming up to people in the parking lot. The security was pretty good in the dorm though as people needed key cards to get into each of the halls.

The staff were incredibly friendly and I still miss them to this day. The rooms were luxurious for college and there is a food court on the first floor. The only downside is GSH was no built properly and the rooms are not flat.

The common areas offered a wonderful place to study and simply spend time outside of my room. However, the three towers of Global Scholars Hall had a pointless and juvenile rivalry, which was communicated through homemade signage posted on common room windows.

Global Scholars Hall is a great dorm building! The dining hall is right downstairs and the food is great. I do have to say it is not a very social dorm since most of the rooms are suite style, but there are the communal bathroom option as well. There are great study spaces downstairs and the package/service center is also downstairs which is nice. The communal kitchen is not the nicest, but if you want to cook something it is there. The building is on the farther side of campus, but with classes being online it hasn't been that bad and it is only about a 15 min walk to the opposite end of campus.

I live on the top floor of Global Scholars Hall and I have the most beautiful view of the mountains and the vivid red and orange trees. This time of year, it my cozy place to go and relax after a hard day of school. It is kept very clean, and I enjoy the company of the people on my floor. I would definitely recommend Global Scholars hall to any incoming freshman at the University of Oregon.
